Un restaurante de los de ‘fondo de armario’ para comer buen marisco y buen pescado. El Barril de Recoletos es un local tranquilo, con ambiente marinero y donde se ofrece una cocina simple y sabrosa. Buenísimas las ostras y almejas recién abiertas, las gambas, las cigalas y los langostinos (pasados por la plancha o cocidos). Sin perder de vista las frituras (pero sí la dieta) con unas ricas tortillitas de camarones o unos deliciosos chopitos. Ni los arroces, entre los que destaca el arroz con bogavante, los pescados como el rape con verduras (un acierto de todas, todas) o la carne con cualquiera de sus piezas asadas en parrilla de carbón que no decepcionan.

Si eres de los que necesita una dosis de dulce, pide un postre de los de toda la vida: unas filloas rellenas de crema. ¡De rechupete!

I ate a half portion of gallecian style octopus, which was excellent- meaty and not fatty, It was a bit too oily for me though - the potatoes were drowned actually - and this made me regret choosing fried anchovies as my second course, though in contrast these were lovely and light, just a whisp of crunchy batter on the outside. I finished with a green salad - perhaps I should have asked to dress it myself because although the oil was very good there was way too much. Overall very good And I would have said excellent if not for the overuse of oil.
