About the restaurant El Chato

"The restaurant El Chato was established more than 70 years ago in the city of Barcelona, close to plaza Tetuan, at a time in which the neighborhood was the meeting point for carriers in the Basque country. Therefore, the restaurant's clientele was mainly from the North. And as you can guess... In El Chato you will enjoy the best Basque cuisine!

After taking the reins of the place, the son of its founders modernized it and adapted it to our times preserving northern touches that characterize its cuisine. The hake casserole a la Basque or its great grilled pork ribs are just some of the delicacies that you will find in its menu!

They have a rich selection of both cold and hot starters among which you can try the shiitake, a Japanese mushroom, sauteed with foie gras; then taste some of their meat brought in from Girona and Gaul such as the steak tartare, the house specialty; and finally you can choose from any of the home-made desserts from their extensive menu. Bon appétit!"

Great food at a great price. Local restaurant. If your not paying attention you would walk righty by it. Don't be fooled if the tables in front of the restaurant are empty. The seating starts in the back which is nice. Would go again without hesitation.

50% on everything should mean 50% on EVERYTHING, if I then go there, ask for some meat dishes and they tell me: I am sorry, but meat is expensive, we cannot give you discount, but you can take soup or salads..... I was celebrating with my fiance and this restaurant left a bad taste in our minds, except the salad, which was really good, but come on.... Don´t go out for dinner if I can expect a proper salad and what else?!

It was OK, not more, not less
