About the restaurant El Encuentro

"El Encuentro sounds of friends, having fun with beloved people, relaxing while enjoying, and coming together with loved ones to eat traditional and tasty cuisine. The tavern El Encuentro is made for that.

It is located in the heart of Valencia, and during good weather, the first thing to strike your fancy is its wonderful terrace. Upon entering, you will discover a pretty place with eclectic decor and soft lighting. Upon sitting down, you'll be surprised by the taste of their dishes.

Homemade foie, cod with tomato, hake in green sauce, traditional dishes with the house touch and employment of the seasonal product so as not to lose quality. Valencia is a lovely city, and El Encuentro a faithful representative of its appeal. Don't miss this tavern."

A small but varied traditional Spanish menu; everything was delightful and delicious. There were 6 in our party and thefriendly and helpful waiter warned us that the pickled partridge was a cold dish, which was fine and very tasty, and that the pig's trotter was gelatinous; so it was, and exceedingly tasty, too. The house red and, especially, the house white were fine. The fish was top notch and I will single out the cinammony 'fried milk' as a dessert which must be tried. Altogether a marvellous experience. If this is old-fashioned Spanish dining (as one review put it) then I will eschew the modern stuff forever.

Wonderful restaurant and not at all touristy. Probably the best service we have had at any restaurant, ever. We had several attendants check on us throughout the evening to make sure all was well, including the chef. Our server Pilar was wonderful at explaining the dishes and very patient with us. The food was all delicious and my husband says it was the best foreign meal he has ever had. On Mondays in Valencia the fish isn't fresh so if you go that day prepare to order something besides fish. We had a few starters, and then my husband had the calamari and I had the oxen; would recommend both.

Imaginative and tasty food. I had lovely mini clams in a piquant sauce, followed by rich, meaty ox-tail stew - a dish you see in too few restaurants. There is no wine list - you simply look at the bottles (which are all priced up) on the shelf and choose one, with the waiter's help if you want. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall, a really enjoyable dining out experience.

Great food at a reasonable price. The service was friendly and helpful and the selection of wines vast! Would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.
