This was a wonderful find: classic Spanish cuisine in a welcoming homey environment. I felt as though I escaped the city for a small town and was greeted with some of the best soups and plates I’d had all week.

Very nice owners told us we ordered too much food and they were right. The foie gras was grilled and topped with a little brûlée sugar. Fig salad w goat cheese very big. It appears the portions are meant to share. Squid in its own ink sublime and the bacalao vizcaína like heaven.

Good house rose, friendly service and sorbet laced with marc raised the experience to positive. We had both fish as a main. The common misunderstanding seems to be that if you order fish, you want to have a not just a light meal, but a small portion, too..

Found this little gem of a restaurant, run by an elderly Spanish couple, who was very helpful. The service was quick and they helped snd explained the menu. El Ingenio is very traditional Spanish in both decorations and the presentation of the food, a lovely experience that differs a lot from «the tourist trails». The food tasted fantastic, both for children and adults. We had both rose and red wine by caraffe - the house wines, and they went very well with both starters and main courses. We will absolutely return to El Ingenio if we go back to Madrid.

This is a true neighborhood gem! It is run by a lovely couple. The food is great and the portions are generous. The sangria pitcher was giant and delicious. The bill was very reasonable offering a great value. The atmosphere was lively and inviting. I strongly recommend a visit!

No es un sitio de encontrárseo paseando, vas a él. Clásico. Cantidades y calidad de 10. Trato agradable. Recomendable si andas por Gran Vía o Plaza España y quieres huir de sitios de turistas.
