10/10We were greeted with warmth even though we arrived late due to the fact our gps was confused, it was dark, and we had never been to El Palancar. The staff took our lack of Spanish language skills with grace and even recruited someone who appeared to be a long-term customer to occasionally help translate as needed. We asked our waiter to choose our dishes and he chose well! We shared 3 tapas. They were all excellent but we thought the mushroom lasagne was outstanding. The others (I’m guessing here) were a salmon pate and a chorizo-filled filo pastry. My husband easily had the best pork dish he has ever had —grilled, marinated pork collar (again, guess) on a creamy, buttery, potato sauce and I had grilled cod. It was tender and grilled to perfection. We finished with a shared piece of orange cake with a thin, but rich and tasty layer of chocolate icing. Accompanied with wine, the bill was extremely reasonable particularly considering the quality of the service and the food. It was a true dining experience! Well worth the driving adventure and distance.
