This place has a local charm to it and the servers were excellent and very helpful in selecting dishes and wine etc. I highly recommend El Portalón. Many thanks to Chiara for her assistance.

Our second meal. Lunch was excellent. Dinner was poor. My wife had pork ribs. Very fatty. She returned it. They were very nice about it. Did not charge us.

The grilled octopus was extremely hard. I had difficulty cutting it with a serrated knife. Rather than admit it was likely overcooked, they suggested my knife was dull or that octopus is hard always. The food was otherwise lackluster and I feel not reflective of the price. We had a meal at another restaurant that was far better in terms of taste, quality, and even price. We thought we would try something different and regret it.

Great food choices of local, Catalan, seafood (of those I tried), as well as many others. Good wine list with some tasty and inexpensive local wines. Friendly multilingual service, french and English menus, in addition to local ones. Place was only partly full on a Tuesday night in February, lots of free tables, no prior reservation was required. It was recommended by a real food/wine buff, and i was not disappointed on any point. Highly recommended for any type of occasion, from friendly, family, solo or business. Enjoy!

Great place to spend an evening! I enjoyed my steak and my friends loved their tapas (they got ham, calamari, snails and peppers). The wine was great (we tried 2 different kinds). The water glasses were so unique - hand blown glass-and they even let me buy a few to take home.

We walked past this restaurant and it looked really nice so after looking at Trip Advisor we decided to try it. We pre booked a table but it wasn't overly busy so we needn't had to. The place was cosy but with a modern feel and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food itself was great, 2 12oz Steaks, Tapas and a jug of Sangria for 60 Euros. If I had to say anything the Steak was seasoned really well if a little heavy handed with the salt but it didn't stop me from finishing it (and some of my Wifes who said the same).

About the restaurant
