About the restaurant El Rinconcillo

Having been here before but many years ago, I chose to take a large party of friends for a 50th birthday celebration.

We were all very disappointed to learn that Tapas was not available in the up stairs dining area in the oldest Tapas restaurant in Spain!

Despite this, we stayed and ordered from the main menu and the food was all quite nice but not the excellent cuisine I remember from 3 years ago.

i have never experienced such rudeness or bad service in my life. The staff of this restaurant go out of their way to make you feel uncomfortable, service is chaos, food is average at best, I'd rate the drinks but they are impossible to obtain as the service is so bad.

Was really looking forward to going here but the staff were so rude and unhelpful to all the English people. I was so disappointed. Do not visit this restaurant

Touristy place! Terrible service...the place itself looks nice but that's it. There are so many better places to eat in Seville.

The waiter was very rude....when he told us they didn't have the dish I wished to order he left and took awhile to return. Meanwhile we saw him making suggestions to other guests as to what they might order. It took 20 minutes to get a simple desert of 2 slices of cheese with topping.....very disappointing overall.

The description of several dishes was not accurate - 2 of us shared egg plant gratin- nowhere said it had meat in- wasn't an issue for us but would be for others. Other starter with eggs was also not as expected as was main fish dish which came in dish with sauce

Would highly reccomend this restaurant really authentic Spanish feel. From the tapas menu the spinach and chickpeas & lamb cutlets are delicious! Really efficient and nice staff too with reasonable prices. 5 stars

We chose this restaurant as it was posted as the oldest tapas restaurant in Sevilla and it was our first visit to the city so we had to try it for our last night. We were not disappointed as the food and service were of a very good standard. We ate in the restaurant upstairs. Next time we will try the more informal bar downstairs which was really buzzing. No surprise the meat dishes were cooked to perfection and the portion size was more than ample. We paid just over €60 for starter, mains and a really good bottle of Ribera Del Duoro which I thought was good value for the surroundings.

The atmosphere was a great experience of a bustling local famous tapas bar. Need to book for dining in advance. Otherwise there are many walk-in locals that stand by the bar to drink and eat tapas. When I went there were only 2 waiters minding the dining area so it was really hard to get their attention. They are never rude but their brisk and inattentive attitude is all part of the experience, this is an extremely old famous restaurant after all.
