Food was good (although chips were served cold and had to be sent back) but service was poor. Despite booking a table we waited 35 minutes for attention, then called the manager over only to get a shrug and be told "that's the way we do things here." On that basis I won't be going back.

Quite an institution in the Watergraafsmeer, Elsa's is a lovely and cosy eetcafe in front of the Frankendael. Expectations for food in such context have to be realistic, but here quality receives especial attention. Fresh ingredients, often specialities like escargots or mussels, the mains are surprisingly satisfying, rich and abundant! The personnel is friendly and cheerful.
And of course I very much appreciate that they serve good local beers on draft and bottle, so one is not left to depress with pathetic pilsjes and the same old Belgian industrial stuff.
