About the restaurant Fado em Si

Great disappointment. Went under the 'Lisbon Restaurant Week' programme, which we use to test out more up-market places for future reference. Service was pleasant and attentive, enjoyed the fado, but one of the two meals was rubbish, the other pretty dull. Soup was lukewarm (ours and that of our neighbours).

It has been a really good experience. We went for a dinner with friends and had great time. Food was delicious and Fado- simply amazing. The only thing that left us a bit upset was- wine. 20€ for a 4€ wine is too much. I understand that it is how business is made but as a wine lovers- we were expecting sth more then 3.1points wine. Despite that fact- I do recommend to visit this place.

FADO was heard for the first time. A performance and a song were very wonderful. The restaurant was also very kind.

We had a fabulous experience at Fado em Si - our night of Fado music. It's a little pricey but when you factor in the quality of the food, the calibre of the artists, wine, etc. - it's worth the experience. Think of it as dinner theatre. Much as we had to experience Flamenco in Spain, Fado is important for understanding Portugal. It didn't matter that we couldn't understand the words. It was passionate and engaging.

We ate from the set menu - 45 euros each and I really liked the traditional codfish a bras (potato, egg and fish) and my husband enjoyed the lamb stew.

It was an easy walk from our Airbnb apartment and the streets were busy and safe for our return walk later that night.

Love this spot! My friends visited Lisbon on their honeymoon and had a great time at Fado em Si, so when I visited Lisbon a few weeks later, I knew I had to check it out. I was not disappointed. Since the fado performances didn't start until 8:30, I arrived at 8:00 to find an empty restaurant, which is fairly typical of Lisbon - people go to dinner much later. I had my choice of seating which was very nice; I could pick a good spot to watch the performances. The waiters are friendly and attentive; I wasn't sure what wine to choose, and they brought me a very good red to go with my veal stew. I also had the almond cake for dessert. All of the food was good, but truly it is the fado music that elevates the experience. The performers were all so wonderful! There is no table service while they are singing, so be prepared in case you are waiting on food or a drink; however, each singer only sings three songs, and then the lights come back on and table service resumes. Highly recommend Fado em Si!
