About the restaurant Flor dos Congregados

We enjoyed our evening and thought the food was good service excellent but found the restaurant a little quiet. There was a piano in the restaurant and it would have made the evening special if it had been played. Maybe if you go on a weekend you will have a pianist playing.

The service was really really good. The waiter was very friendly and he even apologized for forgotting to bring spoons for us. The atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxing and the background music really suits the whole ambient. Unfortunately the food was only average for me.

It was okay. They don't accept credit cards. The waiter disappeared from the second floor for 20 plus minutes. Oh, you pay downstairs, not at your table. As the waiter airs " we don't like to mix money with food and wine". Not our favorite place, but we did enjoy our meals. My husband had the 6 hours cooked veal, but it looked and tasted like beef. I had the sausage with game it had a really good taste, just not as solid as we normally think of a sausage. The chairs become uncomfortable after 2 hours of sitting. Nice staff, but a bit aloof. Good food, but they are trying too hard to be ecltic and future modern with their food. My husband enjoyed his grapefruit beer. Don't believe we could recommend this place to good friends. Still, some of the dishes did taste good. Still, a very nice atmosphere.

We found the food okay, not great.
I had veal stewed in red wine......mostly good but rather fatty.my partner loved his Dorada.
Starters of codfish balls were delicious, piping hot.
My dessert was a sheep cheese with pumpkin jam.......very badly presented, dull grey cheese on white plate with jam and biscuits.Didnt like it at all, told the waiter and still got charged for it.My partner had pear in port....needed greek yogurt to lift it
We ordered coffees at the end, one with some cold milk on the side....and got charged 60 cents extra for it!!!My partner's coffee was spilled down the outside of the cup....looked bad.
Between courses, we were asked to keep the dirty cutlery for the next course....again unacceptable.
We left dissatisfied

What a nice place! Took smoked sausage, sardinhas with rice, mountain cheese, white and red port wine. Everything of good quality, and 31 € was a fair price. But attention: it makes sense to think of a reservation!

A wonderful and cosy atmosphere on a narrow street in the middle of Porto. We came here to celebrate my mother's birthday and it couldn't have been a better choice. Everything from the Espumante Tinto at the beginning, to the pork sandwich, the tender veal and the pear soaked in Port wine at the end was delicious. The service was friendly and welcoming. Thank you for a memorable evening!

The food and ambience were quite good, the fish was done to perfection. Unfortunately the service was rather poor. The server recommended we order 2 appetizers- as the mains are cooked fresh and could take a little time, about 20 minutes (no problem, we said) - so we did. The second appetizer never arrived. When the mains were served - 40, and not 20 minutes later - we mentioned the "missing appetizer" and were simply told "Sorry!", nothing more. We voiced our opinion upon paying, but received again a simple "Sorry!". I stated "I'm from Canada, we would at least offer a complimentary drink or something." Once again, "Sorry!". There were other service issues: not clearing plates, not offering water etc. that added to our frustration. It seemed that they just did not care. So, I am writing this review. Please believe that this review is true and accurate, not just the rant of an unsatisfied customer.
Restaurant
Hello, we were anxious about this evaluation.

Which we thank to be able to justify to all those who read it.

There was a flaw in our service which was the absence of one of the entrees. As the "cod dumplings" entrance was only served when the main dishes were already served, it is logical that we can only apologize and withdraw the same from the account.

We are a humble restaurant of a family that here is to 80 years, we have an informal and warm service we like that people feel at home and we do not buy our customers with offers nor we impose products.

We only put the products on the table at the request of customers with the exception of bread that is an offer from the house.

Our service has a rating of 9/10 at The Fork and we serve lots of Canadians who adore us and we love them as well, unfortunately it was the first dissatisfied and funniest one who came out dissatisfied for having received 2 apologies and we did not give him Offered a glass of wine.
Our best cumpliments

A nice respite from a cold rainy night in Porto. It was hard to find, but GPS helped. A small, family run business with great wine and good food. Great for a casual, warm relaxing meal.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit although more for the ambience than the food which was good but not outstanding.

The two dishes that we thought were first rate were the starter of Cod Balls and the dessert of pear in port wine.

The staff were knowledgeable about the food and wines although when the waiter brought the two different port wines which the waitress had recommended to accompany our desserts he informed my partner not to drink the port at the same time as eating his very sweet dessert but to wait until he had finished eating it. We would not have ordered it had we known that to be the case.

Well worth a visit just to see the fantastic building and artefacts.

We loved our experience! It was our last event in Porto and it was such a great way to end our trip. The restaurant is brimming with character - stone walls, tables tucked into little nooks in the wall, menu on chalkboards . . . I could go on and on! The staff could not have been kinder, friendlier or more accommodating. We came with our six month old baby and they ensured we had a table where we had room to park our stroller. The food was amazing - simple Portuguese fare but it was cooked to perfection. We had the terylene and veal cooked in wine and veal steak. if you have a chance to go - it's a must do in Porto, just make sure you have a reservation.
