Que Donosti es la capital de la gastronomía por excelencia lo saben hasta en Pekín, por eso cumplir el sueño de abrir un restaurante aquí es algo al alcance de muy pocos. Es el caso de una manchega, Rebeca Barainca, y un madrileño, Jorge Asenjo, que después de muchos años cocinando en las mejores cocinas de Euskadi, crearon Galerna. Sus platos reflejan ese descaro propio de la juventud: cocina atrevida, con sabor, olor y color. Cocinan con las mejores verduras, los mejores huevos, las mejores carnes y los mejores pescados frescos de la lonja. Su filosofía es trabajar con el pequeño productor para así dar protagonismo a alimentos locales y fusionarlos a la perfección con otros que llegan de mucho más lejos. Entre sus especialidades están los ahumados, los salazones y los marinados. Espectaculares las migas del pastor con tacos de verdel ahumado, crujientes y sabrosas a partes iguales. Y en cuanto a los vinos, se decantan por vinos naturales de pequeñas bodegas que hagan botellas con el mismo mimo que ponen ellos en los fogones.

    Amazing food is this simple unpretentious restaurant .We has the best value menu degustation, Menú Gure Lurra for 35€. Excellent good - the duck dish was amazing - Pato la brasa con mole de Oxaca y maíz, all the dishes were great and it is a special treat & our best discovery for the year!!! After going to a 3 Michelin restaurant the day before , we were so amazed to find this all gem & strangely enough , we preferred our little gem. Excellent service and we had the chef explain their inventive & gorgeous dishes !! What a splendid experience.

    All our dishes were tasty and attractive. Although the starters were small, the mains were a good size. The setting was pleasant. The staff were attentive.

    The starters were very interesting and the twice cooked duck was fabulous. One of our party is a celiac and the kitchen went out of the way to make sure she was able to enjoy the entire meal with us ( making separate starters sans gluten when needed) The restaurant is very small and lacks ambiance but the friendly staff very much makes up for it.

    What a discovery! Very frendly staff and the food was amazing. Every dish was perfectly balanced in terms of textures and flavours. Their interpretatuon of pinxos was just heavenly. The pluma iberica just melted in the mouth. The whole experience is not too casual but not pretentious either just honestly good restaurant. I am sure we will be back if we return to San Sebastian and will surely recommend to my friends.

    It’s my second time in Donostia and hopefully won’t be my last. I will certainly look out for the young team at Galerna. The food and service was first rate and can easily compete with any of the bigger names that occupy a very competitive space.

    Some of the most flavorful tuna I’ve ever had. Excellent quality ingredients and preparation. The portions are smaller and there is otherwise little to satiate you besides the excellent bread, so don’t plan to go hungry or you will leave that way.

    Very good and friendly service! Most of the dishes were superb, especially the starters (fish pintxos and red tuna) and the pluma ibérica. The wines were excellent, too.
