About the restaurant Gare au Gorille

From the outside, this restaurant looks ordinary but inside is an amazing experience. We had many tapas, all perfectly sized so as to be enough for a taste and to leave room for other tastes. The Boudin Noir was outstanding particularly the pieces cooked with jalapeno peppers. Everything was delicately flavored and nothing was heavy. The orange wine was fun. Desserts - we shared both - were delicious.
Bread is fresh and warm, whole wheat, and scrumptious without taking over the taste. A perfect accompaniment.
Waiting staff was friendly and helpful.

This was one of my favorite meals of a pretty spectacular two weeks in France. The menu is small plates, and our server recommended six for the two of us. We enjoyed those so much, we ordered two more and then dessert after that; it's just fantastic, creative food. Some of my favorites were the risotto croquettes, the gazpacho with tuna and strawberries, and the veal tartare with cucumber, chives and crispy strings of potato. The staff was super cool and as enthusiastic about the food as us. Atmosphere was lively but not too loud. Eat here.

We were hoping for something more inventive. The restaurant was highly recommended by French friends and we had eaten at Septime the day before, learning that the chef at GaG was previously there. The food was good, fresh and well presented, sometimes with interesting marriages of flavors but nothing wowed us. The best course was the dessert.
