The floor service was great as always but I'm not sure what's going on in the kitchen. The meal quality and size has dropped over our last few visits. We used to walk out of there very happy and satisfied and feeling we had got what we paid for. But smaller steaks, crappy shoestring fries, tiny serve of salad, it just wasn't a $50 meal. Sorry guys it was dissapointing and we won't be coming back anymore.

Drink order was missed. Waited for nearly twenty minutes. Only got drinks when asked staff where they were. Main course of food good. Salad disappointing Appeared to be mainly chopped cabbage a bit of lettuce and some small tomatoes with some dressing on it Dessert nearly twenty minutes wait time and then only one of three arrived. Standard seems to have dropped in the last year or so. Have dined there many times. PS DONT LIKE ORDERING VIA APP AT TABLE WE PREFER INTERACTION WITH THE STAFF ITS MORE FRIENDLY AND PART OF THE DINING EXPERIENCE

The girls that worked on Wednesday evening were really good and helpful. Food was a bit slow but quality was great. It was our 3rd visit and still had a great evening.

We dined for dinner on New Year’s Eve. We had a table of 11. The customer service from start to end was absolutely amazing. The food portions were very grand, which we definitely enjoyed. The balloon drop for the kids was a fantastic idea. Thank you for a great night out.

Excellent food, excellent service and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend this place. I’m not a local but any time I visit Far North Queensland I make sure I have a meal here.

This pub is great find in Mareeba. Servicing the local area, it has good quality food, good ambience and the staff are welcoming. Go for the pub classics and you will be pleased. Good value. I would dine again.

When ordering via the app could there be a choice of having an starter as a main? I ordering fish tacos but it came out early than the rest of the table

The service and meals at the gateway hotel are excellent We took our grandson with us and love the fact that they always get the kids meal out first so he can settle down and start eating. The playground is excellent and the tractor pictures always keep him entertained. Highly recommend this pub Excellent job guys

Chef special reef and beef with full lobster, shared between two women and was perfect. The guys had rib racks, and really enjoyed them. Pleasant friendly and efficient waitstaff. We’ll be back!

We have been waiting for three years to get back The Gateway and it was just wonderful. Great staff and service. Food was just beautiful we could not fault it. We will be back and please if you have the chance you will not be disappointed.

Was a little dissappointed with the special barra dish, needed a side chips or something, was ok for a female but a working male not enough, the other two dishes ordered for our group was great.

I like this place but service was so bad today . My son slipped and hurt his eye of the corner of the table , he cry so loudly, and unfortunately stuff appears in about 5 minutes later just to ask if we finished and she can clean up the table.They even didn’t offer ice for 8 y.o bleeding boy. My husband should’ve look for someone to get ice and extra serviette.Is it too difficult to offer some help, or it’s not under your responsibility??? So disappointed

Had drink in bar before lunch, service was efficient and friendly. Barmaid ensured that everyone signed in and followed Covid rules. Went through to restaurant and was shown to table ( would have liked to have been asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor table ) we where seated indoor right under aircon and was very cold but staff happily moved us. Menu choice was large and good variety, food was quick and hot on arrival. Portion size is huge, could be smaller for a cheaper price. I took over half home with me as far to much to eat. Would definitely recommend

The staff were friendly and looked after us from time we stepped into Gateway. The food was good and reasonably priced. The place looked clean and set out well for social distancing.

We've been coming to The Gateway for a couple of years and have always enjoyed the food and the experience. However, things have changed. The serves seem smaller, the quality of the meat is not what it used to be so the value for money is just not there now. The staff are still great and service was top rate, it's a shame that the quality of the ingredients has dropped. We left feeling quite disappointed.
