6/10Don't know why, when booking, they asked me if it was a special occasion. (birthday). Nobody cared. Don't know why they asked me my preference for seating. This was ignored. My husband said it felt like he was in a shed. - Back of restaurant - looking at stacks of chairs etc. The food was good, but at those prices I was expecting the attention and ambience of silver service dining and it lacked atmosphere. The interesting name "Gods of the Sea" was not reflected in decor, atmosphere. I could have been in any place.

4.5/10There are too few selections on the menu. Food is good ambiance was nice, however we find it uncomfortable that before we finished dinner the Staff have already started cleaning up and ready for closing.

10/10Nadine, our waitress was excellent, the table was in the best position. Both our meals were delivered promptly and were delicious. The wine was just as we expected. The view across the Broadwater and the immaculate staff and restaurant added to a great experience. John & Lana.

5/10The menu extremely limited. The marlin was tough and the steak cold. I sent it back. The meal was my wedding meal of which they knew. A very disappointing end to a beautiful day.

5/10First service of our complimentary bread was at 1 hour after we ordered, starters at the 2 hour mark and mains at the 3 hour mark. This restaurant left our group of 12 highly disappointed. Food quality good but we simply had to leave without desert with an hour in between each course. Would not recommend.

10/10All the fish dishes were superb and so were the accompaniments. The waitress was extremely informative which really helped and the service was efficient attentive and unobtrusive.

6/10Cod fish was overcooked & Brussels sprouts was too salty. Portion size was not even. Some plates of the same dish served up more than the other. Not a good day in the kitchen
Gods of the Sea • Owner
Just to provide some feedback to your comments. The reef cod you ordered has been dry aged for 1o days and then cooked medium rare. These details were explained to you when our waitress explained the menu to your table. The dry aging process changes the texture and increases flavour. The dry aged fish is only ever cooked medium rare and impossible to be overcooked. We are the only restaurant on the Gold Coast to dry age our fish and it is a very rare in many restaurants throughout Australia. For the tooth fish that you ordered more than one of and claim that the sizes were different, we weigh all of our seafood prior to cooking and therefore each portion is the same. As a fish is not square, each piece is a different shape, to an uneducated eye, this may seem a different size. If the brussel sprouts were too salty, why did you order a second serving? Education is the key to understanding our cuisine, sorry if you didn't listen when our staff briefed your table. We certainly feel it's worthy of more than a 6.

8.5/10The Resturant was excellent for what we ordered. They didn’t have the king fish which was on the menu but offered us a New Zealand fish Hokier. Not as nice as the king fish. Wine was very dear considering it was Australian.

Hi Christine, thank you for your review. Our team were so pleased to welcome you and your partner for lunch yesterday. Just a quick note to correct the details in your review. The fish we served yesterday was Harpuka and is caught locally. We only serve Australian caught seafood and we would never serve Hokier on our menu. In regards to our wine list and pricing, as a premium fine dining restaurant, we serve quality wines that are match the quality of our cuisine on our menu and the white table clothed dining environment and the knowledgeable and attentive service that we offer. All of our wines are on premise only and most are from smaller Australian producers and not your average mass market cheap alternatives that you may find in other restaurants. We do offer a range of wines starting from $45 up to $300. There is certainly a choice of prices available for any budget and we are proud of the quality of the produce and wine list that we serve and rarely receive a complaint regarding our pricing policy.

8/10Amazing quality food, service was pretty good. Lovely setting, just a shame it was so quiet. Would love to see this place get busier so I will definitely recommend to friends. Might need some advertising to make people aware it is there! Thanks for a lovely dinner.

Thank you for your review Ally. We find that the best advertising is word of mouth and a score of 10 certainly helps more to fill our restaurant than a score of 8. Just saying : )

9/10Excellent degustation menu in a lovely setting. Service was a little slow, and it was not consistent. Most of the dishes were delicious however we weren’t fans of the carrot cake as it was a bit too sweet.
Gods of the Sea • Owner
Hi Winnie, thank you for your review. Just to put it into perspective, our 7 course degustation menu is designed and served across a 2 hour dining period. If guests choose to linger on courses then this time frame may extend past the two hours that our kitchen allocate to prepare the dishes. If you let us know when you are ordering next time that you are in a hurry we can certainly speed up the service for you. We're sorry you didn't enjoy the carrot cake, it is usually a crowd favourite however not everyone has a sweet tooth. Should you like to change the dessert for something else on the list next time, please let your server know. Sincerely, The GotS team

9.5/10Love love love - John (chef) Warren (front of house), Nadine (wait/bar staff) - could not have asked for a better crew!! Food is fabulous - at times challenging your perceptions but alway In a great way, love the embracing of supporting Australian produce and wine. Great views. Good back ground music. This is a serious food and wine experience showcasing Oz produce. Will definitely be back. Oysters - perfect! Kingfish (aged - amazing), Rainbow Trout incredible! Well done team. X

8/10Great staff and ambience but a little disappointed in the steak. But they are seafood restaurant. The scallop entree was magnificent but could have done with a couple more scallops for the price.
Gods of the Sea • Owner
HI Brett, we are sorry you didn't enjoy the steak. We serve a grain fed Wagyu striploin grown on the Darling Downs with a decent marble score and then cook it over our wood fired coal grill. As you can see, we certainly don't skimp on quality or cooking technique and honestly very rarely receive a complaint for this dish. The scallops we serve are from the Abrolhos Islands in Western Australia and not imported Chinese or fake scallops often found on other menus. Our restaurant menu is built on using the best quality 100% Australian ingredients. As we often compare our pricing with our competitors who serve equal quality to what we do we find that are pricing policy is comparable if not cheaper in some cases. Please feel free to read more about our menu and produce that we serve on our website. Regards, The GotS Team
