About the restaurant Golden Temple

If you feel like trying pure vegetarian food, then this is the restaurant where you can go. In any dish you'll not find meat, fish or eggs. All dishes on the menu are prepared with fruits, vegetables, grains and beans and sometimes a single milk product. You are already excited? For a true vegetarian, this is an unprecedented luxury. So much choice in dishes, each one composed of fresh and local products. Inspired by the Indian kitchen where yoga, meditation and conscious cooked food make part of the everyday routine.

This restaurant is a sad mess when it comes to the quality and integrity of the food. The menu seems all over the place with no focus, jumbling together Iranian, Indian, Thai, Mexican and western cuisines while taking the worst aspects of all of them. We ordered a main consisting of a dish named "tastes of India" and some south East Asian curry. First of all, nothing in this restaurant even remotely resembles anything Indian whatsoever; the cooks do not have the faintest understanding of the spices and their uses in Indian cuisine, very bland. The dessert and soup were fine though, as was service. Going to this restaurant is like paying for a ticket to a classical music concert, only to witness an amateur breaking their violin: the quality of the food is an insult towards the wonderful cuisines of India and Thailand. If you have to cook like this, please call it something else.

Het eten was heel lekker, licht pittig en authentieke smaak van India, prettige en attente bediening.

It was freezing cold inside and our reserved table was right at the door. We asked if we could sit at another one of the empty reserved tables but that wasn't allowed. Their reasoning? the whole restaurant was cold since the door had been open all day because they had been painting inside. We just had to accept that. Since we were going to the theatre we had planned in advance what we were going to eat from the menu on their website. But none of those items were on the menu card! The waitress was surprised since one of the items hadn't been on the menu for years! One of us ordered a mushroom/spinach pizza. The spinach on top was dried out and burned, the crust was soggy from the rest of the fresh spinach and too many mushrooms and the whole pizza was soaked in garlic oil. The waitresses were also a bit too non-chalant for our liking. When we left we rec'd 3 coupons for a free drink for our next visit. Every cheezy hotel and tourist centre in Amsterdam also has these same coupons for a free drink hanging in their lobby so if you still want to go to this restaurant be sure to pick up your coupon beforehand! A reduction on our very expensive bill would've have been a more customer friendly gesture and perhaps an apology. We will never go back nor ever recommend the restaurant.

Delicious juices and cakes! And cool decor. The wait staff are very relaxed. Suitable for the atmosphere of the restaurant, which is nice - but service was just a tiny bit slow. We got the Indian dishes and the flavours were good but needed a bit of a boost. The chillies were also mild... Once we added some hotsauce though it was delicious! Portions sizes were ok but could have been a bit more generous. Great for a girls night out.

Excellent atmosphere, relaxing music. Intresting concept but food quality was nothing special. I have been to vegan communities that food was much taster and less pricy.

I'll be honest and short.
Food is of great quality but severely overpriced. (20 euros for a veg-curry, 5,5 for a coconut water)

Service was well below standard. Orders for extra rice\ bread where ignored (staff said they where understaffed, but collectively when outside to smoke and let our dish burn: there excuse not mine)

Hippy service with these prices do not go hand in hand...
I'm all for "nice and easy" but not for 60 per person.
