9.5/10Goldi is a small restaurant run by the owners. Food was well prepared. Tomato soup vas excellent. Meat skewer, espetada, was cooked just right and served in a traditional way. You may order food needing a long preparation, but you have to do that couple of days in advance. We have had osso buco made of lamb and it was really good.

10/10The owner seated us and was personable and helpful with honest recommendations and was very attentive to all the tables I could see. I was very impressed by his passion for his business. We spoke with him after dinner and learned that he shops for the day's ingredients every morning so everything is as fresh as possible. I recommend giving this place a try if you're looking for a great local place!

10/10My friends and I ate dinner here twice! That’s how good it is! And the owner and staff are amazing. Highly recommend the octopus and the skewered beef. Also the beef on the hot stone was delicious. What am I talking about? Everything was delicious!! I even asked for something off menu and they graciously made it for me. Amazing place.

8/10We booked upon recommendation and weren't disappointed. But, the owner who admitted financial difficulties as his 3rd year isn't following the positive trends of previous years, obviously doesn't have the necessary vision to make his restaurant a cut above the considerable competition. The food was well presented,unlike the owner who does the head waiter role, and the quality of the food is very good too, but the dynamics of the owner / head waiter just isn't there. He moves slowly like an individual who is beaten, and dresses as if he has just arrived home from a manual job! A pair of black trousers and a white shirt would create a much more professional ambience. The lady waitress was much more dynamic and, well, without her, he would be lost. This restaurant needs patronising and those who do won't be disappointed, far from it, but I fear that if you don't go soon, this will be yet another restaurant that will go under, which will be a shame. BTW the owner is a really nice bloke.

6/10We went here on the recommendation of a friend, but I'm afraid we're disappointed with our experience. We had initially asked for the fish of the day but were suspicious of how fresh the fish was when we were told that to was only available as a fillet so swapped to seafood rice. We had to ask for cutlery as none was provided when the food was brought! The rice dish was more like a cataplana with rice in, as it was predominantly liquid and was relatively tasteless. The dessert of flambeed pineapple was very nice though.

Such a lovely restaurant with delicious food and personal service from the staff. Make sure that you visit while in Funchal. Beautiful outdoor area to dine in.

9.5/10Very nice small restaurant. Our meals were excellent, service was great but the best part was meeting Nelio, the owner. I was curious about the New Zealand green-lipped mussels but did not desire to order a full meal. Nelio was kind enough to have the chef prepare 1 just for me. It was super. Lovely place and personal touch by the owner. Could not ask for more. We had planned to return a second time but a tour we were on was delayed.

9.5/10A great first time visit for dinner and what a find! Firm favourite for the English it seems. Typical Portuguese menu offering and comprehensive wine list to select from. Superb service throughout from very friendly and attentive owner. The food was nicely cooked, well presented and delicious to eat, with good portion size. Average prices offering excellent value for money. Highly recommended. Will return again for sure.

10/10We found Goldie while travelling and even though we ate OK other restaurants while we were away, Goldie is my favourite restaurant the owner and his wife are just delightful. The chef is super and the food is excellent.

10/10We have followed Nenio from L'Osteria and O Piano and now back to L'Osteria old site. He now has Goldi, still great food and atmosphere, fantastic for families.

7/10Only 2 tables occupied. When the other couple left they advised me to check the bill carefully. I did that and discovered the wine I was given was the most expensive on the list @ €60 and not the one I had pointed to @ €22. Maybe a mistake, maybe my fault for not paying attention but spoiled the experience.

9.5/10The service was welcoming and we kicked off with a local poncha. The menu hasa good choice and we were recommended limpets, which was new for me, and came in tasty garlic buter. Another local dish of octipus cooked with onion and peppers was excellent. My daughter had the chicken with grilled pineapple which she loved and my wife had a plate of very large shrimp which she tucked into. A bottle of vinho verde accompanied the meal Nice ambience, sitting outside, we really enjoyed the evening

10/10A great restaurant where Nelio takes great pride in what he serves so the quality of everything is excellent. Lots of choice on the menu and a lovely setting off the main road up a hill but well worth the climb. Always a warm and friendly greeting.

10/10Wonderful experience. Highly recommended. We have already booked for a second visit. From starter through main course to aperitif the quality was apparent and most enjoyable The host was effortlessly attentive to all diners without being too obvious and was ready with advice or information when required.

10/10Went to Goldi for the first time tonight. Had a fantastic meal. The service was excellent. It is really good find and it will be on our list for a return visit. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

4/10Very quiet restaurant with no ambiance at all .Food was edible but uninspiring.The staff were efficient but did not engage at all , bit of a chore for them to be there . Not one of the best this holiday I’m afraid .

10/10Lovely food and friendly staff. I had chicken espetada with pineapple, the chicken was served on a wooden skewer instead of the usual metal hanging one, which made a nice change and it was served with grilled pineapple and a pineapple sauce, very tasty. My husband had the beef espetada which was equally tasty and very tender.

9.5/10The owner and his wife are really friendly and try really hard to make you welcome. Food is excellent my husband had the steak with blue cheese and I had the beef on skewers. We rounded off our evening with a complimentary drink will go back again.
