Heerlijk eten. Serveerster vroeg paar keer of alles naar wens was. Vriendelijk personeel. Gezellige sfeer in restaurant. Niet teveel poespas, gewoon ontspannen.

Marum is not the first village I would think of to have dinner, but I stayed a weekend in Drachten and a discounted voucher from Groupon lured us to Restaurant "Heerlijkheid". Groupon vouchers mostly offer limited choice of the menu at the restaurant, but the discount is very agreeable. Restaurant "Heerlijkheid" passed the test with flying colors. The restaurant is situated close to the "Marum" ramp on the A7 motorway and possess a large car park, so getting there is no problem. The approach to the restaurant is a bit misleading, because the restaurant complex front is dominated by a fast food counter. But beyond this, the restaurant has a separate entrance. The restaurant has a neat and cosy atmosphere and the service of the waitress was that winning combination of informality and professionality, not often encountered in Dutch restaurants. Groupon entitled us indeed to a set menu; a starter with a range of several appetizers, a main course, also with several kinds of fish (we could choose between meat, fish or vegetarian; fish was chosen), served in a single stoneware dish (named "Smulsteen", literary "gourmet stone") and after that a limited choice of dessert. Oh, I almost forgot, bread with herb butter was offered as appetizer "on the house". Furthermore, Restaurant "Heerlijkheid" offers a extensive list of German and Belgian specialty beer. Summarizing: Good food, good service, nice beer list and soothing atmosphere. You don't leave this restaurant hungry. However, without a discounted voucher, menu prices tend to be of the elevated Dutch variety.
