Really impressed, the food was very nice as was the service. The restaurant looked to be recently refurbished. If anything the starter portions were a little small but I would recommend

ALL FOUR OF US REALLY ENJOYED OUR SUNDAY WITH YOU. FOOD LOVELY AND GREAT SERVICE. ROAST BEEF BEAUTIFUL AND TENDER. STICKY TOFFEE PUD WITH THAT SAUCE DIVINE.

My daughter and I had a fabulous time. Staff were friendly food was lovely and we absolutely loved the piano player. He played all my favourite show songs. Only thing I would say about the afternoon tea is that all the desserts were very sweet something to tart to break them up a little would have been lovely eg a mini lemon tart or passionfruit maybe. Venue was also superb thank you for a lovely lunch.

Great Sunday lunch

Great experience! Staff were extremely friendly both at the bar and those serving. I wasn’t keen on any of the sandwich fillings on the std menu so the kitchen offered me an option of choosing what I would prefer. I will definitely be back!

Lovely place, pianist playing in bar area. Wonderful atmosphere busy yet staff were calm and collected. Will definitely return.

Excellent service, food and breakfast menu is extensive and impressive. I would recommend the restaurant, the food quality and the Hotel itself. Great vale for money.

The best Sunday lunch I’ve eaten in any restaurant. Food service and staff were exceptional.

Fish a chips were lovely,shin of beef was lovely,pate very nice,but the soup was cold

This was a family dinner for a Diamond Wedding anniversary celebration. I was grateful that the wheelchair ramp had been put in place for our arrival. The quality of the food was excellent but the service could have been a lot better. We were left to seat ourselves and no-one offered to take our coats. I had booked an early 6pm table for the Friday on the understanding that the steaks would be flambeed at the table as a special treat and I had mentioned this when I booked the table, I had also enquired about whether a celebration cake was available and was told I would have to bring my own plus any flowers for the table etc, fair enough, so I arranged this. When we ordered I was told the steaks couldn't be flambeed, despite it not being at all busy and we were the only table seated at that time. I had also brought a handmade celebration cake which I gave to staff to be brought out later as a surprise - my expectation was that it would be brought out on a cake plate ready to cut, it was merely brought to the table in it's original packaging with no means of cutting it and no plates until they were asked for!!! I wanted this to be a special treat for my parents but my expectations were not entirely met and took the 'shine' off the occasion.

Food and service exceptional

First visit since a wedding 25 years ago. Visited with my daughter for Christmas afternoon tea. The savoury selection was amazing. Our personal favourites were the mini pigs in blankets with Mustard Mayonnaise and the Tempura veg. The cake selection was also first class.

Lovely restaurant and staff Food very good served efficiently One thing I will comment on was . If you have the set menu 2 or 3 co urses. In. the week it is almost always the same main courses. it never varies. Previously if you did friday there was always fish and chips on This seems to happen whichever day you go. Otherwise no complaints. I will say we are going boxing day, and wanted to do new years day but the menu is exactly the same. So we are going elsewhere

Having use the Hotel for Sunday Lunch frequently for nearly 40Yrs I have to say this is the worst experience ever Having arrived at the requested time and shown to our table,food order was expected before wine drinks arrived, on ordering no gluten free bread available First course arrived in good time, then 1hr later after several requests the main course arrived mild apology was offered, then everyone couldn't offer enough however on paying account on leaving all senior staff seamed to disappear without offering a simple apology I accept the hotel was busy but having staggered booking times I feel it should have been better managed Why have 10 people for afternoon tea in main restaurant @ 2.00pm?
