About the restaurant Hostaria di Bacco

BACK IN THE 30'S - It was the year 1930 when our ‘Hostaria’ opened. After more than eighty years we can say, with a touch of pride, that the secret of Bacco is in having been able to pass on for generations an emotional bond with their guests.

GENUINE CUISINE - We believe that eating is a spiritual activity, so our cuisine continues to be real, genuine, inspired by the respect of good rules and the careful selection of ingredients linked to the territory and the season. Scents of sea and mountains alternate in our dishes to delight the palate of our guests. The farmer-fisherman is the proud protagonist.

STARS AS GUESTS - Our menu is also inspired by our most distinguished guests. Our "Ferrazzuoli dish" is dedicated to Anna Magnani, the great Nannarella who came to taste it when she was shooting in the Fjord the movie "Love" with her lover Roberto Rossellini. In the evening, they were used to leave their refuge by the sea to come to the hill to enjoy the fresher climate and the tasty dishes by Donna Letizia. After many years, nothing has changed. In the name of our restaurant there is still the smell of the myth: grasp it while tasting the dishes we propose.

Situated on the Amalfi to Napoli road in the easy to over look village of Furore. We arrived on a Friday as the first booking of the evening. Things where quick to pickup with the locals outnumbering us tourists by nine o’clock. Good à la carte menu and three fixed menus to choose. We all chose the art menu at fifty euros, four coures and for an addition of twenty five euros accompanying wines from the very respectable local vineyard.. Nothing to fault in the food or service and as the wind rattled through the balcony wraps where brought out on request. The restaurant typifies what you expect from a holder of the bib gourmet.

The Hostaria di Bacco has an excellent reputation and setting high above the fiordo di Furore where the view is spectacular. However, our recent visit was during an intense rain storm that took the setting out. Some of the dishes were complex and good but not over-achieving and the overall value was moderate.

Food is average. Not bad. Nothing special. The view is great! Plenty of outdoor seating. We would suggest going a little earlier for dinner to enjoy the view better before it gets dark.

The setting was great, we were celebrating a birthday and a talented trio was performing but the amplification of the trio's performance was much too loud. Conversation was impossible at the table. The staff did not understand our request to lower the sound level. I think the room was too small for their high volume performance.

Lovely setting, excellent seafood risotto, dessert was spectacular!! It was a typical Amalfi pastry with a little cream filling and cherries. Oh my!
