Ordered wagyu rump cooked with salt instead of the normal basting and with a salad instead of chips. They cooked the steak without any seasoning and it was tasteless, but with acceptable texture. Regrettably, they added excessive salt to the side salad which made it near to inedible (does anyone ever salt a salad?). Got through 2/3 of it before I felt too ill to continue. On giving feedback at the time, they insisted on getting the duty manager even though I said no..so had to repeat the feedback. The manager simply rung up the bill with a 15% discount which I declined and it felt disingenuous. Regularlarly visit this restuarant and have always given high reviews and so this may be an aberration. Hoping for a better experience next time. On reflection, there was a lot of discussion when the meals were waiting to be served and I believe they were aware that they had made the error and chose to serve a very poor meal rather than correct it.

Food was fantastic and the express lunch is great value. Unfortunately, on this occasion, the service was abysmal. No menus or water were given on arrival. After waiting over 10 minutes we approached the bar to see if we could at least get a drink, only to be told that we needed to wait to be served at our table! It was a disappointment that it marred what would have been a beautiful birthday lunch.

Great night out for Father’s day. Nice turnout! Apart the calamari was tough and not much taste. The rest of the meal was good .. pork back ribs, Wagyu beef and the pork skewers .. they are delicious. Wine and drinks are expensive. Overall was a lovely night over a mostly satisfying meal.

Really enjoyed our meal. Angus burger comes with your choice of salad or chips, which are tasty steak cut. The snapper and vegetables were quite filling. No room for dessert!

We went there to have our midweek family lunch. It was a great experience and their service were top notch. Love their Dry Aged Striploin Skewered & Eye of Rump, both cooked to perfection as we requested. Love their potatoes side as well. Will be back for more.

The restaurant had an outdoor seating area and we were the only one sitting outside at that time. Five stars for the wait staff who proactively advised us that they will turn on the heater for us without being prompted. The meat in the kangaroo skewers was superb. This is now my go-to place to bring friends over to have something different from the usual fare.

We have been to Hunter and Barrell on numerous occasions and the food has always been amazing. Unfortunately on this one occasion, my Ceasar Salad was very disappointing (wilted lettuce leaves). On collecting our plates, the waiter queried why I hadn't eaten my meal. After I explained it to him, he immediately apologised and then reduced our bill. The handling of this situation by the waiter was exemplary and more than compensated for the soggy Ceasar.

Service today was excellent. The calamari entree was delicious but the beef ribs and chips lacked flavour. Chips were nice and crispy though.

Poor value for money unfortunately. We had baby back pork ribs which was significantly smaller than previous pork ribs served in the same restaurant. There's barely any meat and it was also burnt. Not a great experience. Not sure if it was because we used YUM points. The chips however, was very nice.
