About the restaurant Ikaitz

"The Ikaitz restaurant is located on the right bank of the Urumea River, near the Palacio de Congresos Kursaal. The interior is modern with a rustic touch, thanks to its stone walls, which makes it a nice and warm place.

It offers a traditional Basque cuisine renewed with signature touches. Its chef, Gustavo Fioseco, presents delicious dishes that will delight the gourmets. Meats, rice dishes, and fish, washed down with a wide range of quality wines.

They make menus tailored for groups. Give yourself the pleasure of eating in Ikaitz admiring the beauty of San Sebastian and enjoying the flavours of their land."

Very well composed, clear but exciting and playfully presented dishes: traditional with a very up-to-date Twist and fushion elements. Very pleasent service: well trained but still relaxed and not stiff. Nice and clear interior. We really enjoyed our lunch in that lovely restaurant.

Service was not more than correct and fairly slow. Had the menu for 35 € for 3 courses, wine and water - which sounds really bargain at first sight but was not adequate for the meals served. White wine (Rueda) was good. The "creme brulé foie gras" had no foie gras at all in it (tested like a dessert really), entrecote was poor quality, just on a bed of cold pickled vegetables, no side dishes. Rather disappointig, especially in relation with what you get at other restaurants around for less. Maybe I've chosen just the wrong dishes, my partner quite liked her mushroom risotto and the grilled fish.

Great fresh food. Savory Basque dishes.

The lunch menu is one of the best deals on the planet.

The only complaint is that the rule that everyone at the table must either order the menu or a la carte is disaponting and pointless

Had menú del noche! It was incredible. Even though we were young and underdressed, the staff was so kind. Would definitely go back again!

Really delicious food but, unfortunately, our waitress was quite rude for no apparent reason. She made fun of the way we pronounced the dish names and did other odd things that made us feel uncomfortable. We also had to keep flagging someone down to move on to the next course or get the bill as the night progressed and the restaurant got busier, which is understandable. So, overall, would totally come back here for the food -- just hope that we get another server!

We were disappointed in our meal. The starter of scallops included canned asparagus, The monk fish was smothered in heavy sauce.. The desert of a thin apple tart was the best part.

The food is good and the service is excellent. Although they say the average price is about 30€, it's more around 45€ if you go for the a la carte. Their weekend set menu is 35€, including beverage.

Food (quality and taste) was excellent, as was the friendly and personal service. Quiet little place which is different from the bar atmosphere on the streets.

Wonderful meal and evening in every way. The pre=fix menu of the evening was delicious and a great value. The cod was cooked perfectly and all of the dishes were nicely presented on the plates with great flavors for the palate. Our waitress is the co-owner. She was delightful, friendly, and warm. If we lived in San Sebastián we would frequent this restaurant often.

The staff was very warm and helpful with ordering. Luckily they spoke excellent English. The food and service were very good. The prices were on the high side by Spain standards but we enjoyed our evening here.
