Big disappointment, the cook seems to be Italian but the cooking is disaster. We had mellanzane alla parmigiana which was undercooked, without tomato sauce , tasting like nothing, served in a petite ramekin. Shrimps with orange were okay but difficult to eat since the whole shell was still left on. For the mains: tagliata di manzo was served on iceberg salat, the meat was chewy , the advertised “con tartuffi”was apparently some leftovers of truffle butter. Pici alla bolognese were rather pici vegetarian since there were only traces of meat. By the way - isn’t the correct name “al ragu”? I this case it does not really matter. The whole experience from culinary point of view was big disappointment. It is difficult to find genuine Italian restaurant in Cascais anyway, but Il Mattarello is for sure not one of them. Pity but I do not see future there unless quality of food changes dramatically!

This is our third visit to Il Mattarello. The owner and chef are quite nice and welcoming. The food is excellent with homemade pasta and desserts on the menu. We enjoy the restaurant and its service and will return soon. Bravo!

Lovely food in a cosy little restaurant. Super sweet staff - all of them so friendly and service minded! The kids liked the food as well.
You have to try the tiramisu for dessert :-) - very nice!

A welcome addition to the neighbourhood. Delicious, fresh food and very friendly service. We will be back. Especially liked the truffle tagliatelle.
