The service was not good. We really did not feel welcome in this restaurant.
The starters were good, but the risotto had no taste.

I am staying in Leiden for a month and this has been my best meal here.
Very Gluten aware and will make adjustments with recipes.
I plan on returning for another fabulous meal!
Many thanks to the chef!

Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. I hadn't been for a while and it was lovely to return with some friends from the UK

I opened the front door Monday morning, looked at the snow falling and started singing "Its Xmas Time, theres no need to be afraid". Its that time of year again and while some places put up trees and decorations to make you feel in the mood, this old, quaint restaurant, with a blue fire in one room and lots of dark wood tables really does look like the perfect place to celebrate the Xmas spirit. One slight downside though: terrible food. Thankfully its not expensive, but even taking the price into account, there was only really 1 passable dish - goats cheese in pastry served with simple salad leaves. As for the rest well, the mushroom ragout was dominated by the brie, both main course dishes (pork and chicken) were overcooked and featured some unpleasant sauces and the deserts were just weird. Still the service was fine and they did try to make us feel at home, but having eaten a lot in Leiden over the last 5 years, this has to be in the bottom 3 of dining experiences. Shame, as looking back through the reviews, I had a great evening here 3 years ago. Thats a lifetime in the horeca though and it shows.
