This small restaurant, slightly off the beaten track, can easily be missed, but it is well worth seeking out.

We visited on a Monday night and had booked a table for 5:00pm. As the evening went on, the restaurant became full and people were being turned away, so I would say that booking is a must.

We had the rice table. From what we understand, the Indonesian Kitchen does things slightly different from other Indonesian restaurants. We each had our own first 3 courses, and then the remaining 9 dishes were sharing dishes.

The first course consisted of a mango and shrimp salad, a scallop and a roll of swordfish, and all tasted as good as they looked. The second course was a prawn and cod soup. I will confess that I’m not a big soup fan, however, this was delicious and had a nice amount of “kick” in the spicing of the soup. We then had 2 satay skewers, one chicken and the other goat. These were very tasty.

Then came the main dishes. These consisted of a couple of cold salad dishes - one a cucumber and pineapple based salad and the other and apple based salad - a mixed vegetables dish, a prawn dish, 2 beef dishes, a chicken dish, a lamb chop dish and a bowl of egg noodles. And there was also rice on each of our plates. On the whole the quality of the food was superb, with the weakest of the dishes being the 2 beef dishes.

We finished off the meal with desserts (I had the fried banana and ice cream) which were enjoyed by all.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome.

Will definitely be returning in the future.

We came for a birthday dinner; we had never been to this restaurant (or to Amsterdam) before. The dishes were superb (! Coconut chicken and beef) and were delivered to our table in a very timely manner. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We ordered dessert though we were full just to be delighted once more — and we were! We’ll be back!

Our first time having Indonesian food and it was very tasty, to say the least. We chose the tasting menu of four courses. The meat tasting sections were delicious. The waiter/owner was very polite and attentive. Excellent restaurant

The reception was incredibly friendly and warm, the food was simply espectacular and the ambiance superb. We had a most enjoyable time with our family and I cannot stress enough how nice everyone at the restaurant was with us, even giving us some dishes for free for us to taste. Would come back every time I am in town.

The service was perfect and couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. The restaurant was clean and cosy. We were disappointed with the food. The main course was served quickly but the rice took a while to come and both dishes were only just luke warm. The beef redang was quite dry.

My friend decided he was craving some good Indonesian food. So, off we trot to Indonesian Kitchen. Within two minutes, we were seated, had beautifully cold Bintang beers, sparkling water and mouth watering Amuse Bouche on the table.

I went to the Indonesian Kitchen twice while visiting Amsterdam. The first time we did not have a reservation, but the staff slipped us in to the schedule ahead of a later reservation and worked with us to ensure that we had a great meal in the hour we had before the next folks came in. The food was great and the staff very friendly. I went back and had the rice table with several other friends and all thought the meal delicious.
