Nella città che tra le prime ha fatto dell'inferno un topos letterario, grazie all'opera del suo illustre cittadino Dante Alighieri, c'è un ristorante che si ispira a questo tema. Il ristorante Inferno, ospitato al pian terreno di Palazzo Gherardi, nel cuore del quartiere di Santa Croce, è un mix di stili e gusti che ben si amalgamano agli interni antichi, con i soffitti alti e gli ambienti dall'ampio respiro. Un posto in cui il peccato principale è la gola: visto il menu ricco, e ricercato, che dagli antipasti ai dolci propone piatti della tradizione ma non senza un pizzico di creatività.

Inferno si sviluppa su due sale: la sala Ninfe, in cui gli arredi, i decori al soffitto e l'ambientazione rimandano al connubio Terra-Mare e la sala Lussuria, sempre di infernale ispirazione, con pavimenti in marmo e soffitti a volte collegate tra loro da un “limbo” che conduce all'ennesimo girone del gusto: la cantina.

Il menu, di chiara impronta toscana, propone piatti dai sapori decisi e netti. Si parte con gli antipasti in cui i moscardini di polenta alla livornese su crostino di polenta sono l'alternativa di mare alla carne salada, servita con crema di marroni e olive taggiasche o allo sformato di carciofi, cialde di pere e fonduta di pecorino. Una delle specialità della casa è il flambè con cui vengono servite ostriche, capesante e gamberoni. Tra i primi c'è lo spaghettone infernale, realizzato grazie a un mix di pomodoro ciliegino e cavolo nero croccante. Ma c'è anche la carbonara dantesca all'uovo pazzo su porcini e briciole di rigatina, pancetta tipisca toscana. E poi le zuppe: di farro o di mare oltre alla classica ribollita. E, tra i secondi, le specialità di carne (bistecca e guancia di manzo) o di mare (polpo croccante o scampi alla medicea). Flambato, infine, è anche uno dei quattro o cinque dessert in carta: sono le crepe infernali al Grand Marnier, da preferire alla crostata al caramello salato o al morbidissimo alla frutta e crema chantilly.

Delightful atmosphere. Exceptional food on 2 occassions (Florentine steak for 2 & Sardinian roast suckling pig). Good, affordable wine list.

Too “high” cousine for me. Tasty but very extravagant. I’d recommend to emphasize that on the restaurant card in the app.

TVE food and the wine were superb, excellent. Bit tje amount total of food was very little. I don't want to pay that muchos and go to another restaurantes because I am still hungry.

Exellent Food.
Nice menu with new and different combinations.
Loved the mushroom puré they gave us as a starter.
It was an explosion of taste.

Smiling and very serviceminded waiter.
But it took a bit too long time to be served.
It was an urban, cool and coasy atmosphere. You felt like home.

Total a very good restaurant.
We Will come again!

Good choice of fish. Chef explained how he was going to cook it. Luciano filleted ithe fish at the table - delicious. Crepe Suzette for desert would have liked to see it cooked at the table instead of 10 foot away. The restaurant filled up as it got later. Would return if in Florence
