A wonderful evening with friends at James St Bar and Kitchen. Tables inside and outside plus high and low tables it's a great spot for a drink and bite to eat. Great vibe. Staff know how to make the perfect cocktail - no more so than Bella who crafted our cocktails with skill and an infectious smile. And also a great spot to watch the world go bye if you are on your own.

Great food, great vibe (choose from the bar at the front or the restaurant at the back) and sensational service. A well priced range of food - all fresh and tasty. Tonight I had the falafels which were delicious. A shout-out to Bella for her great service - warm, friendly and engaging - and always wanting to go the extra mile!

Went for the weekly rotational lunch special, was high quality and a decent serving for an affordable price. Service from Thomas and Mo was beautiful, always checking in and making sure our water was topped up. Will definitely come again.

A great vibe and great cocktails! Evitha and her team know how to make the perfect cocktail - with my friend enjoying a whiskey sour. Food is fresh and tasty. Today I had the Falafels which were served with hummus and warm soft pita bread - the perfect lunchtime meal - yum. And they also have great lunchtime specials. I'd recommend sitting in the bar for a great vibe and street view or for a business meeting the restaurant works well.

Warm friendly service from Hannah and a great menu. My friend had the famous James St Sanga which he loved - a very generous serve (he chose to have it without fries). I had the Falafels which were served with hummus and warm soft pita bread - the perfect lunch dish and yummy. A relaxed vibe and we sat for hours chatting! (And bonus - alcoholic drinks also available.)

Service was exceptional when we asked if we could move due to a loud next to us and kept us updated on our drinks order as it was quite busy and taking a while. The steak was cooked perfectly and I couldn't fault it

The restaurant staff had no clue what they were doing. We got asked what water we wanted when we sat down, only to be asked 3 times again by different staff. After 20 minutes we got our water. We had to ask staff to take our order after waiting 30 minutes. Even though the food we ordered was minimal it took forever to come out. It’s not a quick process at all. The food was over priced for what we paid, and wasn’t the best quality. Some was bought out without the accompaniment and we tried to ask staff for attention but to no avail. The reviews and images online lead me to believe whoever wrote them had not been to this restaurant. I definitely would not recommend it.

This restaurant is situated within a Doubletree Hilton hotel in the centre of Northbridge .The biggest difficulty is the issue of inadequate parking (probably best to use public transport or taxis ) The night we dined was the start of Festival Fringe and the crowds and lack of parking proved a major issue affecting the gathering of our group . The wait staff were pleasant but certainly not proactive .We had to request tap water , ice and extra glasses .Another wait til the staff distributed menus and stated they were ready to take our order …Dishes were uninspiring , share platters poor value for money and limited options for main meal let alone dessert ! Towards end of the meal an open Latin American dance class started!!Disappointing.Felt the food was ok but rather

No ambiance in the area we ate which was off street. Pigeons were walking around inside the venue. Local beer we requested was not available. Service was slow even though it wasn’t busy. Food was reasonable but only because a special offer. Will not be going back

Went to James St kitchen as we had dined there before. (Myself and friends) The service we received from our first waiter was fantastic but the rest was an absolute shi#$t show. They had a salsa dancing class which took up half the dining area of the restaurant (which we were not notified about this before hand) which disturbed the whole dining experience there was the dance instructor with a microphone headset and the music was loud with flashing lights. They also began to dance in our part of the dining restaurant whilst we were still sitting at our table. How is one supposed to enjoy their meal ? The plated food we were served was not that warm (I had lamb with sweet potato cubes and brocolini ( the menu described th crushed sweet potato??) The meal lacked flavour and taste but the saving grace was the dessert which in my opinion was quite creative and tasty. Before we got served the main course they turned off the lights (one of the helpers from the salsa classes came amd plonked 3 coloured battery controlled 2 dollar shop lights and stated here is some lighting for you. This was simply just rude. We could not see what we were eating, and when we spoke to the waiter who replied "im sorry we can't do anything about it" we were a little dissapointed and upset that he did not try to resolute this. 10 minutes later, what it seemed like was the manager of the dining area came to explain to us they would keep the lights on for a further 20 min or so so we could finish our meal. Almost like they felt they were doing us a favour? This is not the dining experience we were expecting and we will not be returning here again.

The service was good but the food was overly salty. The salt literally spoiled the dishes. My son’s Sanga was so salty and my steak was well done instead of my medium rare. It was remade but still too salty. It would be a nice meal if it was not too salty.
