Best smoked salmon I ever had! Although not look like a Japanese restaurant from the decoration, the test of food is authentic. Will come back again!

Delicious Asian/Japanese dinner in Amsterdam! We're always looking for great Japanese restaurants in Amsterdam, and Ku Kitchen & Bar didn't disappoint! The sashimis and makis were really good and a large warm meal with chicken and tempura was part of the menu, which was great! We can also recommend the matcha desert, really delicious and tastes like Japan! Will come back soon to try other dishes. :)

For some strange reason our fork booking had not been passed on to the restaurant however they did have a table available. Food was excellent service was good. The speed of cocktails coming out was a little sluggish but they were worth the wait.

We had an amazing time at Ku. We had early dinner reservations, but after a long day of travel we were starving and arrived about 30 minutes early. This was no problem at all, and we were seated right away. Everyone was very helpful and friendly - I think our server was also the owner, and he talked us through the menu options. Everything was beautifully presented and skillfully prepared, not to mention delicious! I had two cocktails, something blended and watermelony, and the Japanese mule. Both were fantastic. We will definitely come back whenever we're in town.

Really good sashimi, which is always an indication of the quality of the kitchen. Lovely staff. And for someone with gluten and lactose intolerance many options and very positive approach.

Delicious food! Love the seafood bento and the KU burger.. It's a great place to go to with friends or family, you can order a table full without having to empty out your pockets. Plus they serve great cocktails.

You know, this restaurant is not half bad. For a Dutch restaurant with enthusiastic people trying to serve Japanese snacks it is all-right.

Do not, however, go here expecting Japanese cuisine. We didn't see a single Japanese person here, no Japanese dishes at all and no Japanese decor. Please do not go here if you are in any way expecting a Zen-like feeling. Just go here if you are a Westerner who likes beer and sushi.

This brings me to probably the most important point:

Yes, the sushi is fine. It is made by Western people to Western tastes, but it is quite good. I would even recommend this to Japanese visitors to Amsterdam if they are curious to the Dutch taste in food.

Ku Kitchen Bar is a nice place to go to with friends, the food is nice. Only Not for romantic diners. Although the food comes too fast the service is really good, nice people who serve and you can see the cooks preparing the food! All and all a good place to spend an evening.

Went with friends for dinner at Ku. Overall experience was mediocre.
As for the food, the portions were of decent size for price and the sushi was indeed fresh. Plus points for that. Was less impressed by the very sweet desserts.
The decor is trendy/attractive. Though we were seated in the front under the green light which is not pleasant to be under. Nor next to the door that always gets opened and hits the bench where you sit. Further towards the kitchen might be more comfortable.
The service was what disappointed us the most. Kind of typical dutch cafe service, which is little to none. After waiting about 45 minutes, we tried to flag down someone to take our food order (drinks had already been taken, though one of us received a wrong drink). A starter never showed up, except on the bill (which was fixed at the end). Food was started to be taken away from the table before it was clear and while we were still eating it. And a dessert had to be ordered 3 times before it came. There were a couple times while we were eating that someone came by to check how things were. But anytime in between, we always had to get them over ourselves.
Given that there are so many other places to get fresh sushi in Amsterdam, unfortunately, I don't feel like rushing back to Ku Kitchen.
