About the restaurant L'Ambroisie

The food was moderate (dessert good), the service of horror! The service staff preferred talking to her friends at the other table and was outrageous and cheeky. We waited more than 45 minutes for the bill! I would avoid this house!

the key picture of the restaurant is misleading as it doesn’t show that on the opposite side of the street there is a commercial center. The service was rather poor...maybe the waiters were new, but they took a lot of time to bring the water, they were always mixing our plates and were not very helpful when we were asking some easy plates off the menu. Rather disappointing experience , considering the high rating it has.

Let's start with the good news: the desserts were delicious. Most of the other dishes were OK, say 7/10, but that's not as good a mark as I would expect for the price (120€, including 33€ for wine), or for a restaurant with as good a rating as it has. One main dish, the Filet de Boeuf Fumé, for which we paid an extra 3€90 on top of the menu price, was particularly disappointing, with the boeuf being really tough - my wife had to hack at it to cut off pieces to eat. In retrospect, we should have sent it back, though I'm not sure if that would have worked - a diner at the next table had the same problem a little later.

Three years ago we visited L'Ambroisie with some friends. we had such a good evening on passing through Marcon we decided to try it again. We msut say the first time the owner himself drove us back to our Hotel as there were no Taxis available in Marcon during weekdays! Thats what I call Service. Our second visit lived up to the expectations and we had a suberb meal with excellent value for money and they a very wide range of local "open wines" to choose from. We will be back :-)
