Great location by a lake. Very friendly service and good food. The desert ‘tarte framboises avec sabayon’ was heavenly.

We visited Ancolie last night and had an enjoyable time. The restaurant is very nice and we were able to eat on the terrace overlooking the Lac de Dronieres on a beautiful summer evening where the sun set late and the temperatures were in the comfortable mid to low 20s. Although we had a nice time, I must admit that the food was not spectacular and the service was on and off. Regarding the food, in our party, we tried three appetizers, three main dishes, and three desserts. Overall, some of the dishes were good, but many, we found a bit bland. We felt that the chef spent a bit too much time on texture (many gels/gelatin) and not enough on taste. The food was very subdued (nothing "popped"). Maybe the chef was going for a "fresh" flavor, but I found that the recipes and ingredients did not favor this style of food. The service varied quite a bit as well. The Maitre D' was good, as was the waitress, but one waiter seemed very much untrained (not knowing how dishes could be fit onto the table).
