About the restaurant L'Encrier

This is a very solid choice near the Bastille area (which has tons of mediocre restaurants!). Great service, copious dishes that were well prepared, with quality ingredients, some dishes were good, others great, and the value for money was really there. We will keep it in mind when in that part of town and will not hesitate to return!

Great food. Prices on specials list are a little confusing and food took forever to come out. Tiny place but great food.

Main dish of sea bass, haricot verts, yellow sweet potato was excellent. Fish might have been slightly more flavorful and tender but not very noticeable as the balance of the meal worked well.
Appetizers of salmon and artichokes were delicious - especially the crisp mushrooms with the artichokes and the sauce which was light and integral to the dish. Salmon was extraordinary. Profiteroles and pistachio creme brûlée were the best desserts I've ever had. The profiteroles had a slight crunch but were soft; the ice cream and chocolate quality. The creme brûlée had a silky consistency - not heavy with cream, not thick with egg - you could enjoy it and not think about ingredients. White wine was a wonderful pairing. We sat outside. The chairs were perhaps the most comfortable dining chairs I've ever sat on (restaurant or in a house, etc) and the table was the right size for two (intimate, yet room enough for serving ware). We got there at 7:30 and were seated right away. Waiter was helpful and spoke English.

Excellent food and service in a traditional French Restaurant. Be aware tables very close together but not unusual in Paris. Otherwise highly recommended.

Nice, original Parisian bistro food. Lots of character and reasonably priced. We especially enjoyed the starter of duck hearts.

L'Encrier came highly recommended by a friend. We really liked the welcome and the atmosphere. For our main course we ordered lamb and duck. Both came with sliced fried potatoes & French beans. The lamb was very undercooked and neither dish came with sauce making them impossible to finish. We did not complain at the time in typical British fashion.

It was such a shame for our last night in France and we really liked the staff.

There was a mix-up with our booking, but, we were found a table (if a bit cramped). The meal was excellent as were the house wines.
