About the restaurant L'Esquisse Lausanne

Nice food, ordered entrecote and cod fillet, both were nice. Also ordered a chocolate lava cake, it was nothing special and quite expensive for such a small cake. Ambiance was okay, decoration could be nicer :)

We loved out second brunch visit to this cafe even more than our first. I had super delicious eggs Benedict, great eggs, beautiful sauce, nice muffin and tasty salad, like last time, and my girls had pancakes. They serve the pancakes with whipped cream which we found out taste AMAZING with the mini pain au chocolat. The food came super fast. Even my youngest who is always miss impatient said: ''But it came too quick''. Only gribe, the pancake portion feels a bit small for the price. Service was very effective and definitely with a smile, and we rang ahead last minute to reduce number of people eating and a small delay in our arrival. They were all fine with this and greeted us with big smiles when we arrived. Taking the cosy park locating into account as well this is definately our new favourite cafe despite the 20 minute drive to our house. Just wish you did not book up so fast at the weekends ;-)

Good brunch place! I like the egg benedict with salmon! My friend's egg benedict with bacon is a little bit salty. The bread sets are very nice!

MIXED: LOVED the setting in the park, the welcoming & special atmosphere of the place & waiter. Perfect for brunch. My Eggs Benedicte were truly excellent & amazing basket of croissant etc. which I dont care for normally. One daughter LOVED her pancakes, the other was not impressed by her Full English (the bacon not crispy and no beans). However, they chose to serve mouldy raspberries & old blueberries. I say chose as my daughter immeidatley spat the raspberries out saying they are not okay & clearly all remaining raspberries had black mould inside & all the blue berries had big soft spots. Also charged for freshly squeezed orange juice but served ordinary juice & my daughter only received 2 pancakes as part of her brunch menu (20chf) compared to the huge platters of food the rest of us had, more like a side dish of pancakes (12chf). It felt a bit like they were trying to cheat us by giving us cheaper versions of what paid for. Still LOVED the setting & food & will be back this weekend but a bit wiser.

Great location, perfect for romantic dinner or a small intimate dinner with friends. Overall, the restaurant is good but we were expecting a bit more from the food. We had Buratina as a starter, which was quite good - rich and beautifully seasoned. For main we had the Entrecôte and this is where we felt a bit let down, the steak was quite chewy and the garnish was average. For dessert, we had the chocolate fondant and again it was nothing special. With that said, the ambience is great and the staff is friendly. It is worth a visit, but do not order the steak!
