Brilliant hidden on the wonderful canal Bloemgracht. The owners run the restaurant and are engaged in everything giving it a great, personal, feel.

The food and wine pairing was exceptional and very interesting. We did the Dutch tasting paired with Dutch only wines and were blown away.

Highly recommend it :)

Having one waiter for 5 tables with around 15-20 guests in total meant sometimes there were long waits between the courses. The length of the dinner was in the end OK, but could be done shorter by having 2 waiters (if the kitchen manages).

Also, the price was fine if the portions were slightly bigger or more numerous. For 2 tasting menus with wine pairing, almost 200 euros is worth a great dining experience. This was just so-so (comparing price and value).

Nice restaurant, nice decor and good service. And as big positive surprise: wine pairing with only Dutch wines! We did not expect that and were initially hesitant, but the wines were of very good quality, also the Dutch sparkling wine from Zeeland. Food also nice. Small disappointment was that there was only a very small piece of asparagus, that could have been more generous. Besides that we were very satisfied!

The restaurant is old world canal side Amsterdam and therefore beautifully situated.

We had reserved and were greeted by a gentleman who I now believe to be the chef patron, maitre de, waiter, and sommelier all rolled into one, and invited to choose whichever table we wished.

The multi functioned host was obviously a one stop shop for all information on the history of the place, the food, the wine, in fact everything, but this did present a few less desirable aspects later in the evening in terms of service and cold food.

Haute Cuisine with the Cozy Comforts of Home.
Our experience with L ‘Invité was a cozy delight of small locally sourced dishes. The dining room is a balance between the home and haute cuisine. Each dish is presented artfully as one would expect from fine dining. What sets the food apart is the story each dish tells. It’s a social history of the Netherlands. My favorite course was the umami cappuccino. It presented an onion soup with a foaming cheese froth perfectly sweet, savory, creamy. Like all of the cuisine flavor and comfort are in perfect harmony.

The Spa amongst Restaurant: good for the stomach, mind and soul.

This absolutely was the best diner experience I had in the last few years. The food was prepared with care, the dishes were well balanced, the atmosphere kind and luxurious and we had a lovely evening yesterday.

It's the perfect place to recharge, get out of the rut and stress of the city, relax and regenerate your body and mind. A party for the tastebuds; a great experience; almost felt like a spa.

We had a Wonderfull time!

Absolutely fabulous dinner
We had the 7 course tasting menu of which L’invite was famous for. The only words I could think of to describe the entire dinner and experience are exquisite and sublime. the flavours delicately balanced. The wine recommended was superb. Our wonderful host - The service was gentle, personable and quietly timed and paired perfectly with the food. Thank you for such a lovely and truly memorable experience.

Charming restaurant on the beautiful canal in Jordaan.

We enjoyed everything about this restaurant, the location on the water, the food and the personality of the owner. We went back three times for quiet unhurried dinners after spending our days in crowded museums and the overwhelming centre of the town. A nice place to relax and watch the boats, ducks and swans float by in the canal accompanied by the bells of the Westerkerk. We loved the food, a la carte and the six course tasting. The host is very warm and pleasant to talk to, Sico is passionate about sustainability and locality of the food he serves, wonderful wines to accompany your meal. Thank you again, for your hospitality.

Sumptuous and scrumptious

Thank you all for a wonderful evening! The food was exquisite! The complimentary oysters and champagne were a real treat and really set the tone of what was to come. A very imaginative tasting menu, with fantastic paired wines delighted all 9 ladies. The cappuccino style soup and creme brûlée with a twist were exceptional! It’s often difficult to serve large groups, but the waiting staff paid real attention to detail.
A really wonderful nighT and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it!

Nothing but praise about the service and the location as it is situated at one of the most beautiful canals in Amsterdam and the waiter (owner perhaps?) is more than friendly. The food is ok but given the bill of almost € 200,- there are tons of other restaurants in Amsterdam with far better value for money. And in this price range you could also find several Michelin-star restaurants. We had the six course surprise menu with paring wines. Well a surprise it was when we saw a few slices of smoked salmon with dressing. The smoked salmon came straight out of the fridge and thus served too cold. Also the butter we got served came straight out of the fridge and therefore hard to spread of the bread. The cappuccino of onion soup with a foam of old Dutch cheese was ok, but I think quite unimaginative if you pretend to be a high-end restaurant.

Anyway, overall the experience was ok but I think the price should have been at least under € 150,- instead of almost € 200,-.

There was only one waiter and he was overwhelmed. He was running around trying to do his best but he only had two hands. Therefore we spent 2.5 hours for a three course menu. Quality and taste wise it was fantastic.

L'invite has a superb tasting menu, excellent wines and fantastic ambiance and service.
We had a fantastic evening dining at L'invite with our friends. The food was of an outstanding quality and the courses had well blended flavours that matched the wines excellently. Booking a table was very easy and I really appreciated the personal email contact withL'invite. The atmosphere was cosy and classy. We'd really recommend you to our friends :)

When we went to the restaurant, the beginning looked very promising. It was quite empty (a bit strange for Friday evening), and the service was attentive. But after some time, strange things started to happen. We were not, for instance, offered a wine card. We said we would like red wine, and a service guy just would come to us and poor us a glass of red wine without further asking (he did not ask us whether we want a bottle or what kind of wine we want, or even explaining what kind of wine we had - it was a bit mysterious). After this glass I asked a service woman maybe to bring another sort of wine. And she asked: what did you have before? I said: I have no clue, we were just given some wine. She seemed to look a bit angry at us: so, how can I know? But well, is it not somewhere in their system - to look what kind of wine people ordered?
Food was okay, within the classical concept of French cuisine. Not very creative though. It seems that they want to be on the safe side, which is not bad per se, but I would always like to see a bit of creativity.
At the end of the evening the service lady seemed to start to become increasingly irritated by the customers (or maybe it is just her character), although it was neither very busy, nor we had special requests. I mean, you can say things in a different tone, and it makes a lot of difference. When you leave a lot of money for a bill, you expect a more friendly hospitality from the service. Many dishes were unexplained (for instance, cheese plateau, wine), and I find that really a pity.
Although the location of the restaurant is very nice, I am not sure if we would come back. There are too many good French restaurants around we can choose from.
