About the restaurant L'Opéra

Funky little restaurant with a small but varied menu. Beautiful presentation and described in detail by the server.

This was an incredible meal! Firstly, the wait staff were very welcoming, friendly, and attentive throughout the whole evening. They walked us through the whole menu and also helped us choose wine (a fantastic one, by the way!). We went for the 7 hour lamb (Agneau de 7h et son jus réduit au thym) and the Le Duo de foie gras. My husband and I shared everything - the flavors were out of this world. It is hard to decide which was better, the lamb or the beef filet topped with pan fired foie gras (and delicious foie gras sauce)!. I would completely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Aix en Provence!

Certainly better when we were there last October. In terms of cuisine but still very good value for money.

The food and service were absolutely excellent - we went from the alla carte menu and got lovely big portions of some of the best food we have had in a restaurant. A lovely wine list as well - we had a bottle produced in this locality which was lovely. We'll go back over our 2 weeks in Aix

The presentation of the entire dinner was creative and fabulous! The meal was absolutely delicious....I had the lamb dish and the meat was cooked perfectly with an exquisite red wine sauce. Quiet and romantic atmosphere.
An enjoyment and wonderful dinner at a very reasonable price!

Excellent meal - all three courses hit the spot and service was by far the best that we experienced during our 4 day trip to the south of France. Staff were also happy to adjust for gluten-free dietary requirements. Highly recommended!

Not good enough
The food is ok but lacks this extra effort or soul to make it really good

Ambience is weird: red lighting and red velvet sofas?? Overpriced too. We have been in much better restaurants in Aix

Our dinner was excellent and authentic Provençal. I was looking for a delicious meal with the freshest of vegetables and fish. This was it. We also enjoyed the complimentary delicious cold tomatoe soup appetizer. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to AIX. Very personable staff as well.

Very tasty from start to finish. Especially glad to find this restaurant on a Sunday night, when so many restaurants are closed. Staff was friendly and helpful. The pheasant two ways was accompanied by a very delicious sauce, but would have been enhanced by more sophisticated treatment of vegetables. The parsnip was undercooked and would have been better if puréed. My wife's 7 hour L'agneau was very juicy and flavorful with nice sauce and excellent puréed carrots with cardamom. It is a special, and larger dish, than the plats that are part of the 3 course menus. While the carpaccio St. Jacques entree was very good, my wife found the larger size of L'agneau made the carpaccio entree unnecessary. I finished my meal with delightfully light French version of Le foret-noir (German Black Forest cake).

It's ok, but nothing special. Bit overrated in my view reading If you eat out a lot, then its underwhelming. Food ok, service good. Prices fair. They do try to squeeze you in between narrow tables. Don't have it, find a table you like, or go somewhere with more room..
