About the restaurant L'Orangerie Paris

"Jean-Claude Brialy was the chef of the premises for 40 years. Since the demise of the actor, the remodeled Orangerie pays homage to him by projecting films in black and white.

In a former mansion of the 18th century at the heart of the île Saint Louis, discover authentic flavors here like la cannette fermière de Challans rôtie, candied orange and for dessert, sweet chestnut honey and sorbet.

A legendary place that brings elegance and gastronomy together."

Was there a couple years ago with my 2 kids and husband and really enjoyed it. Went back over the weekend with my husband - it was our last night in Paris. My main course (beef) was the truly the worst beef dish I have ever had, and I'm not picky. The beef (flank maybe) was tough, chewy, stringy and inedible. Appetizers (vegetarian terrine/eggplant) were average at best. My husband's salmon was raw in the middle - I understand salmon should be lightly raw the middle, but this was raw - he could not eat the centre and the waiter couldn't care less. We were very disappointed and frankly felt ripped off - can't believe we spent over $150 euros on this meal.

Rack of lamb excellent. Veal anew not what I expected. Not blanquette de veau. Service lousy.. a server did not show. Mot my problem...people ne t to us French and way too loud. No manners. People did not dress up at alllike they used to for this resto.. a shame. It used to heigh of elegance. Not now.

My wife and I dined here on a Sunday evening to celebrate our 29th Wedding Anniversary. I ordered the Sea Bass while my wife had the Beef Tenderloin, both entrees were exceptional. Service was good, ambience was nice, and cost was reasonable. My only disappointment was the occasion was not acknowledged by any of the staff.

Dinner was extremely disappointing due to the quality of the food and the chefs cooking. The ravioli was mushy smothered in straight cream with no flavoring. The beef was extremely tough. The sea bass, served on a mountain of mashed potatoes, was so overcooked it was inedible. The veal again tough, vegetable mushy, we requested no potatoes due to allergies, was served with two potatoes.

Lovely small restaurant on Ile St. Louis. Excellent food, very nice ambiance and decor. Good wine list, with appropriately priced wines. We truly enjoyed all aspects of this dinner.

Tasty well cooked food. Enjoyable evening with a warm ambience. The location was also good. The poor waiter had to work really hard as he seemed for most of the evening the sole front of house person. He was funny and he should be commended for doing a great job in difficult circumstances. Unusually in Paris he didn’t speak English which added to the fun. Please get him more help!

Completely overbooked for New Years Eve. Only one waiter and one hostess for the entire restaurant. They worked hard but could not possibly keep up, nor could the kitchen. People were standing, people left in the middle of meals. We sat at 9pm per our reservation....at 11:45pm we finally left and had not even been served our main course. My daughter is in the restaurant business and worked the front and back of the house. Had she known French, she would have donned an apron, we pitied the fiasco of the evening. Biggest catastrophe we have ever witnessed.

Worst restaurant I’ve ever set foot in, or even within a 10 mile radius. Epic levels of incompetence, we were in the restaurant for 3 hours on New Year’s Eve and only got a starter. No apologies, no attempt at good service, a staff who openly mocked us and disgruntled customers throughout the restaurant. Avoid at all costs!!!

Lovely area and pretty restaurant. Food was disappointing, not only for the price but for taste, temperature and seasoning. Service was what can be expected of one person dealing with 20 plus covers alone. Perhaps we hit a bad night, but at e166 after a 30% it’s not a miss that I would want others to endure.
