Por si fueran pocos, el barrio de pescadores, la Barceloneta, suma a su flota gastronómica un nuevo restaurante marinero. Sí, pero nada de cocina de batalla. La Barra de Carles Abellan, como todo lo que toca el reconocido chef al frente de locales tan famosos como Tapas 24, Bravo o Suculent, es alta cocina, esta vez dedicada a los productos y los guisos marineros. Y en este establecimiento el leitmotiv, como suele ser marca de fábrica del grupo de Abellan, sigue siendo el mismo: lo mejorcito en producto, creatividad, atrevimiento y cocina de calidad.
Lo primero que llama la atención es cómo ha sido concebido el espacio, obra del arquitecto Lázaro Rosa Violán. A pie de calle, unos 100 m2 con dos inmensas barras frente a frente y, en el medio, la cocina abierta con robata (grill japonés), parrilla vasca y una plancha donde los cocineros preparan ante los comensales un producto casi en bruto para disfrutar de su sabor más simple y más auténtico, con una cocción perfecta. En la planta inferior, encontramos la cocina con cámaras para que el comensal pueda ver cómo los guisos hacen chup-chup en los fogones en dos grandes pantallas de alta resolución situadas en el comedor de arriba.
Second time here. They had a trainee working the seafood grill who wasn’t quite perfect but everyone and everything else was.

Very high expectations as I know the Chef's fame and the restaurant has 1 Michelin star. Overall the quality of the ingredients is excellent, the preparation perhaps just a little bit below the very high standards usually provided by the Chef. Nothing to complain about but nothing to really rave about either.

The concept of sharing each course is optimal so you can taste every dish and all the courses that we have tasted were really excellent! We have particularly loved the garlic shrimp rice with his texture and his taste. Also the two desserts that we tried were outstanding. The staff was pleasant and always ready to help and answer our questions.
Very nice restaurant with a very good atmosphere, perfect service, we loved the paella, the appetizers also very good, and very good experience.
Excellent food, drinks and atmosphere! Unfortunately the bill was brought to us without asking for it while we still wanted a digestive. As compensation we were given two coffee free of charge, but again the bill then was given to us. I had to pay while drinking my coffee. Apart from that little issue, great place to go to!
It was a pleasure for the Chef to stop at each table to say "hello." The restaurant s beautiful. The service was a bit disjointed, but overall a pleasurable experience.

Great inventive food by a great Catalan chef. The Calamar in Kimchi and Egg was the standout dish, Fried oysters also exceptional. The chocolate dessert was incredible. Sitting outside on the terrace watching the world go by I couldnt be happier.

Superb 11 tapas tasting menu although pace a little fast with courses overlapping at times. Excellent service with a smile and made to feel very welcome by the whole team. Warm ambience and great concept. Sorry to hear the restaurant is relocating to larger premises and hope this won’t spoil the wonderful dining experience.
