We were looking forward to our first visit, but we’re a little disappointed as we found the food quite odd. A starter that puts apple slices with snails just tasted strange, while it is years since I had a steak sauce of such heavily- reduced demi- glace. The welcome was very warm and generous and the decor interesting. The wine list could do with more half-bottles and wines by the glass

This restaurant is fabulous. We have been here several times now and we always make a visit when we are in Calais. Caroline is a fantastic host always making you feel welcome and cared for. The food is amazing. We are always prepared to try different dishes and have never been disappointed. There are classics on the menu also for the less adventurous. Nice selection of wines and the decor is gorgeous. Classic French, chic, yet has a homely welcoming feel. We love it and will be back again. Thank you Caroline for providing a lovely evening.

What a wonderful place. Booked here after reading the reviews on TA for lunch during a day trip from Kent on our Wedding Anniversary. Great food, lovely host and an amazing traditional place. We were running late, but we called and were told "don't worry, we are open all day. Please take your time". Nothing was too much trouble and the food was fantastic. We will be back next time we are in France.

For an absolute beginner to a restaurant in a non-English speaking country, this was a most pleasant experience. The host and server, Caroline, was very gracious and helpful to assist me in understanding the menu, pouring the wine, bringing additional items complimentary, and yes, in English! The food was sensational! Highly recommended, and stays open when most restaurants close after lunch hours.

How I adore the traditional French cuisine. The chic French lady of the restaurant is very charming. The atmosphere can best be described as bourgeoisie due to the interior. I strongly recommend the wealthy escargots from Bourgogne with a meaty texture and a decent amount of butter. The Foie gras with salmon is good, however I still rather eat it without any other additions. The cuisine of the Boeuf Roquefort was perfectly executed. The Roquefort sauce is subtle, I rather had it stronger, however that probably won’t work for the average taste buds. The Confit de Canard was good, we liked the thin sliced chips better than the thick potato wedges you normally get, ofcourse baked in fat of the duck. Overall this is an unpretentious and classic french restaurant with a strong menu for a decent price. Probably the best thing that Calais has to offer (although that’s not hard to accomplish for a ghost town like Calais).

Very typical French restaurant. Lovely French food. Great atmosphere. Pricey but there are set menus to choose from. A lovely lady serves you and helps translate the menu if your French isn’t great.

Pleasant welcome. My canette was slightly over cooked, but that was probably my fault for ordering it medium. The rest of the meal was just right.

Very charming interior, thoroughly French. We've returned here many times, combining parking in the shopping mall opposite - entrance on Rue du Temple, (stocking up on Carrefoure wine). The two lady owners are helpful at explaining in English the intricacies of the delicious and unique menus. And the cheese boards are divine.

This restaurant offers very average standard of food, which is disappointing considering it has received very high reviews, which clearly are inaccurate!!!

My husband has Turbot and my daughter and I had a Dover Sole which was completely tasteless the starters we had escargo was tasteless also. the woman in the red and black floral coat was overpowering to say the least!!

It is far to expensive and I would never recommend that restaurant or even go to the place again.

The food and the waitress service was completely NAFF!!!

The restaurant was very quiet as it was 2:30. It is hard to find places open at this time and so this is a real find! Service was excellent and the food was amazing. The set menu is good value although the drinks were on the expensive side. We will be back!

We had the €17.50 set menu + a dessert and thought every single dish was excellent. Even the vegetarian food was exciting and delicious, which is certainly not a given in France. The kids enjoyed their kids meals too. Would highly recommend it. Leave a bit of space for dessert as they were also very different and yummy. Enjoyed the slightly old fashioned decor. Service was gracious and prompt. Just 10 mins drive from the Eurostar, the perfect start or end to any trip to France.

Went to this restaurant after reading the trip advisor reviews and found it very disappointing. Definitely not vegetarian friendly as advertised. Only one veg dish available; red burger with warm soggy chips. Madame could have been more thoughtful and friendly, did not wash her hands after blowing her nose. House wine mediocre and expensive. Tuna was the other dish we had which was ok but overall would not recommend this establishment.

The style, atmosphere and presentation of this restaurant is so lovely. The restauranteur welcomed us as we arrived, she was really friendly and thankfully bilingual too. The food was tasty and plentiful, I practically rolled out ! And my goodness that house wine was delicious.
I really enjoyed my lunch today and will definitely be making another visit in the future, Pricewise this is at a medium high but the quality of what you get in return is worth it. I recommend :)

Beautiful restaurant ,wonderful service and translation as our French is poor
Been coming here for nearly 20 years ,whenever we pass through on our way to the Eurotunnel ,and have never been disappointed. Still owned and run by the same wonderful family
If you are passing through Calais book a meal here you will not be disappointed
