We have been faithful to the reputed Safari restaurant for 5 years, trusting that it is the only good quality restuarant in the touristic Cours Saleya. However, based on the ratings on La Fourchette, we gave La Cambuse a try and it has won us over. It is less choatic, slightly cheaper, and cleaner than La Safari. Plus, the housewine and bread are decent. The olive oil for the salad is tasty too. We compared similar dishes we normally order in Safari, i.e. calamari and aioli, and both are better in taste and presentation in La Cambuse. Only point of improvement is to clean the fresh squid better. A couple of rings had ink-pouches. And the music was too main-stream and loud. The owner can be of less presence in the restaurant. Although his role ensures quality, it kind-of made us felt watched over by some kind of head-master. But this is just a minor remark, from an otherwise a well-run restaurant. We're glad to discover La Cambuse.
