The beer was cold, but so was the plat du jour, a pre-made vegetable lasagna that had obviously been deep frozen: our waiter reacted quickly to try resolve but even a second blast couldn’t warm the centre. My partner’s chicken burger special was more palatable but the overall experience was poor,. We cancelled the desert and left quickly. Enough said.

Had a really good meal at La Cantine Arkose, really lovely helpful waiter who made us feel very welcome, yummy reasonably priced food and interesting venue!

We were travelling to Eurotunnel from Caen and wanted a stop off and a bite to eat before Calais - Rouen was about half way and this place is in an industrial estate on the outskirts of the city. We found it easily and it looked a bit of a run down area but the place which i guess had been a warehouse or show room was fitted out for climbing wall experience, with a restaurant attached. It had an urban feel to it a grunge. We were shown to the restaurant with basic tables and chairs and were quickly seen to by a waiter. Food arrived in good order and it was delicious 4 Mini Reblochons to start and then Pork in brown ale and potato gratin and a ham risotto all piping hot and yummy cheese cake and carrot cake to finish with a glass of wine and it was 60Euro including a tip. Excellent! stick a pin in for nexct time.

Terrible food in an undecorated post-apocalyptic warehouse. Croquettes came too-hot-to-eat straight from the microwave. My pork burger disintegrated before I could finish it and my wife’s salad had far too much dressing. Very disappointing; especially after all the rave reviews on Tripadvisor
