About the restaurant La Cocina de Payuri

The name of our restaurant is the name that the young Teresa, daughter of lifetime Friends, always used to call the owners Paolo and Yuri, identifying them as a single entity, always asking to have dinner at Payuri's.

This is the feeling of our home, a bar restaurant "all'italiana" where you can feel at home with friends and where you can find the typical flavors of Tuscany, a region full of flavors and good wine, art and unique landscapes.

Here you can find dishes as the Trippa alla Fiorentina, the Baccalà alla Livornese or the Braciolina all'Empolese, this last dish is typical of Empoli, the city near Florence where the idea of Payuri was born. Try our meat ragù or rabbit ragù or the other dishes full of flavors of the cuisine of the past. Paolo and Yuri will help you choose the wine that will pair better with the dishes you're going to enjoy. Have a good trip through the real Italian flavors.

This restaurant has a very family kind of feel to it, almost too much: TV on silently in the corner with music coming from somwehere else, the owner's wife wafting her own cigarette smoke in from the street.
The service is almost disastrous: the waiter needs to read the Waiter's 101: At least greet your customers when they come in, rather than leaving them wondering who they should take to about their reservation. Once the table was prepared he pointed to it from the other side of the room for us to take it. Then he took a LONG time to do the most basic of things: ask us what we wanted to drink.
In the end the food itself was quite good, but also took quite some time to arrive. They didn't have the main course I wanted so I had to choose something else. I know this can happen, but what I find very surprising is that and Italian restaurant can tell you "we ran out of grappa" (they poured me the remaining thimble that they had in their last bottle. Anyone heard of stock??
