La Grande Bouffe

Our third visit to this restaurant is likely to be our last. Superb food and the thrill of watching it cooked on an open fire is no longer enough for us to overlook the really terrible service, which is offhand, bordering on the downright rude. A shame that such a potentially wonderful place should let itself down like this.

This charming couple run restaurant on the road adjacent the Canal du Midi was full of locals. We were full with a single course from the open fire. Very tasty. The house wine 500 ml was a bottle of excellent Minervois wine. It was a very pleasant meal.

This little restaurant is a wonderful place. Eat inside to watch the chef grilling on a wood grill. He hand cuts steaks and salmon to order. Quite a show. Food quality is fantastic.

Delicious meat, had duck and steak. Amazing to watch the chef at the coals.

Black Angus Entrecôte absolutely superb as was the baked potato. We will visit again when in Carcassonne.

Totally worth a visit if you like a steak

A very enjoyable casual evening. First time here and will be back. Beautiful steak cooked in front of your eyes under an open fire. Great starter salad and good wine too. Simple food cooked well.

Just perfect. Delicious steaks cooked over an open fire. Relaxed service and lovely wine. This was our second visit and every bit as fabulous as we remembered. If you are visiting Carcassonne, go! Just make sure you book, it can get busy!

This is our favourite restaurant in Carcassonne. We have come here every year for the last fifteen years and all through the year we look forward to it! The steak is the best in the world and the crumble a la pomme is outstanding. Hard working, family business, lovely people.

Fabulous cosy restaurant down by the canal...open fire kiln type cooking for all to see...steaks were melt in the mouth..and the baked potatoes were a super change to fries...10/10.

Very slow service - was rather disappointing after the great reviews! However I can’t fault the meal - the steak and lamb chops were done to perfection!
