Great. At lunch we had the two–course menu , two glasses of wine, Badoit, and
coffee. Food is very good, portion size modest.

Very over priced. The food and service didn't live up to the price. First and last visit.

This restaurant felt like time traveling to Julia Child's kitchen. The plates were fancy in presentation but sedate in flavor. My favorite was a salad of quinoa and raw tuna with a micro greens; it had a brighter flavor than most of the dishes. The servers were formal but not unfriendly. The timing between dishes could be long (even for France), especially between our second course and the soufflé dessert, which was clearly being prepared fresh (but maybe was just timed incorrectly). The atmosphere was the best part, a peaceful meal in a charming garden setting. We watched an older woman local to the area come in and be greeted so warmly, which was endearing. It was not a bad experience but not one I'm likely to repeat.

Beautiful decorated restaurant with the best foie gras that I ever ad in my life. I will forever remember the melt in your mouth deliciousness that will never be duplicated. We had to rely on our google translated sine English was not spoken and there was no English menu but do not let that deter you.

Wholly disappointing and not at all worth the price. This is a restaurant stuck in the past, attempting to put out fine dining but without the necessary attention to detail. The amuse bouche, starters, and entrees were all - without exception - ridiculously salty. The veal medallion was stringy and tough yet upon complaining, I was told that it was my fault for ordering it medium-rare. The orange souffle was dry and chewy, as if it had been sitting out for hours and then reheated.

There are not many options for dining in Fontevraud, but avoid La Licorne. It is simply not worth it.

Our first visit to La Licorne, 15 years ago, was so outstanding we never forgot it. First impressions on our long awaited return were so disappointing we almost cancelled. The exterior was unkempt and the gardens drab. However, our host in Fontevraud assured us that, though the restaurant had changed hands, the chef had been retained. We took the risk of having our illusions shattered and honoured the booking. It proved to be the right decision and we hope to return within the next few weeks.
