6/10Having experienced sushi in Japan and the U.S. in locations that excel at the real experience, I was a bit disappointed with La Mado. Most sushi restaurants serve raw fish cold and fresh; our entire order was at room temperature. We were put off by rolls that had an abundance of cream cheese where typically none is used and it was overwhelming. It was the first time dining in a sushi restaurant where there was no ginger served, a Japanese cultural staple. Finally, the 30% off promised to via booking thru The Fork was not honored. Overall, a bit disappointing particularly as they are rated amongst the top ten restaurants in Aix and one of three sushi restaurants in that top 10.

8.5/10Restaurant in front of the main square, good selection of food and wines. The atmosphere is very relaxing, my main course was up to level "La Degustation" raw fish with oysters. Bit expensive the winner choice but very nice. Overall a good experience, even if we had to ask the 20 % the fork discount which was not displayed on the final bill.

10/10We are a couple. We had a very good meal, with some creative dishes. My boyfriend had the duck permentier, which is duck meat covered with purée and baked in the oven. Everything in it was excellent, the purée, the crust, the gravy and of coure the oh so tender meat. The lettuce salade that came with it was a nice side dish, although I think that for a refreshment the very strong garlic taste is a disadvantage. I had a very nice sushi dish, with twelve sashimi pieces of four different types. There were salmon, red tuna, shrimps and sea bream. The fish were of high quality and the dish size was more than decent. Overall, we really liked the menu that contained both traditional heavy french cuisine and a lighter option of Japanese sushi. The atmosphere was great. The waiter was very nice, and explained well the dishes. The value-for-money was high.

6/10Our first visit was just for drinks at an afterwork time and it was a good experience. Hence we decided to return for dinner. To be disappointed. Somebody who has clearly lost the will to cook was preparing the dishes (2 and 3 course dinner), somebody equally lowly motivated served the food. The gin fizz was drowning in sugar syrup and lacked any source of carbonated water. This continued with the San Pellegrino that must have been shaken free of any bubbles. Starters were okay but lifeless, the magret du canard was a big portion and the meat well prepared but laid to rest on a bed of dead green beans fresh from the freezer. Fries accompanying the beef tartar were served in a chipped dish. Small things that simply could be avoided with attention and enhance the experience significantly. The only lifeline was the dessert - pain perdu with Nutella was a treat.
