About the restaurant La Mangiatoia

The food served was good. The choice of dishes on the menu, as pointed in other reviews, was quite narrow, perhaps replicating the model used at their own farm/agroturismo. Wild boar and venison were on the menu, perhaps at odds with the season but that’s also fine if that’s what you are after. The staff was helpful but seemed rushed at all times less attentive therefore.. Overall, nothing wrong per se, however I don’t relate with all the raving reviews left by previous customers.

Very nice restaurant in San Gimignano. Very local menu with good products and nicely cooked.
Service was ok but too impersonal and didn’t make us feel really at home.
Not a cheap restaurant but can’t complain thinking what we had. Recommended

My favorite eatery in San Gimignano! This was my 3rd visit since my 1st in 2006. Lovely! Wonderful family-owned restaurant. Look forward to eating here whenever we are in Tuscany. Love Annalisa and her sister makes the best pasta!

Had booked a party of 11 people as our first night at San Gimignano. May have been (if not the best) one of the best meals we had during our 2 week stay in Italy. Don't think anyone of us had anything bad to say- food was really good, good value for money, served as the "yardstick" for all the following evenings.

Food was a mixed bag: starter of cheese with pear was excellent, gnocchi tasteless, venison very good and profiterole dessert truly awful. What really let the restaurant down though was the service. Plates and dishes not being cleared for 15 minutes, having to flag down a waiter for service, generally not made to feel looked after at all

Favorite place to eat in Tuscany. The food is excellent. Try the steak with truffles and mushrooms, the caramelized shallots, and the stewed wild boar.

I guess the food will please many tourists not well versed in Italian cooking, but that is not saying much. That being said, the sample size is only one dinner for two... decent, nothing more.

The food was amazing both in terms of taste and presentation. I can definitely recommend the antipasta starter to share and the main local dish of wild boar braised in red wine was delicious. If you order a main it is advisable to order vegetables as a side as the meat dish comes on its own. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English and the bill was very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit whilst in San Gimignano.
