Eugénie Brazier, surnommée la Mère Brazier, est une célèbre Chef de la cuisine française. Le restaurant est toujours une véritable institution à Lyon grâce à son Chef Mathieu Viannay, Meilleur Ouvrier de France qui lui a redonné sa notoriété d’antan.

Vous y retrouverez le goût du produit noble avec l’araignée de mer aux condiments et sa fine gelée acidulée ou encore la cassolette de quenelles et langoustines, jus de carapaces à l’absinth.

Mathieu Viannay perpétue la tradition culinaire lyonnaise tout en y ajoutant sa pointe personnelle. La déco a également retrouvé son cachet avec ses belles faïences et boiseries.

Really lovely meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. Not perfect (jus a little too salty, too much lemon in the sesame sauce which overpowered the veal) but nothing that majorly affected our enjoyment. Big plus were the staff who were professional, discrete and very friendly. Thoroughly recommend it.

The restaurant was superb in every way. The service was truly attentive and accommodated some unusual requests without showing any dismay. Food was wonderful and I was so stuffed after the 3 course lunch. Flavor combination was imaginative and playing smart. There were quite a few variations of green peas offerings, though. The chef came out to greet the guests as the lunch service was winding down which made the dining experience especially personal and even more enjoyable. Definitely deserving of its Michelin 2 star. Despite the price, I would definitely come back when I return to visit Lyon.

My first visit to La Mere Brazier (LMB) became eventually unique and unforgettable in every meaning.
First visit to Lyon, our 30th wedding anniversary and unexpected delay by 2 hours! due to a heavy traffic accident on highway back from Annecy. But LMB welcomed us very politely and friendly.
Every cooking and wine was well recommended and explained, perfect dinner for us, together with greeting from handsome Mathieu.
We enjoyed our commemorative night and understood the essence of marriage of foods and wines.
Thank you, all staff of LMB, with our best wishes. We wish we would be back.

An exquisite dining experience. Every dish was distinct and superb'; the service was unobstrusive and professional. There is a broad selection of fine wines. If I ever return to Lyon I'll make a reservation here well in advance.

Outstanding food and service. A mix of the classics with newer more modern dishes. Encyclopedic wine list with wide selection of quality wines in all price ranges. Quite expensive but worth it for a special occasion.

So far the best yet in Lyon. The service was outstanding. The food presentation was very creative. Love the chef! A little pricey but if you're celebrating a special day then this is the place to be.

The wine was served at a too high temperature. The lobster paired with the Bresse chicken appeared not fresh. The abalone was poorly cooked so that it had a phenomenal toughness!

I am surprised and disappointed by your comment. We are sorry not to have been up to your expectations. We try hard to the everyday life to satisfy our clientele and we bring a particular care to the quality of the products which we work. I can guarantee you that the lobster which accompanied the chicken who was been of use to you could not be fresher because it was still alive that very morning. I would have liked exchanging with you, during your dinner, on the cooking and the texture certainly particular ofabalone. The purpose of our work being the pleasure I can be only saddened by your felt and I kindly request you to excuse us for it.
The cooking is a delicate exercise which calls on to the sensibility of each and rest a very subjective art.

In addition to La Mere, we dined at Les Loges and Les Terrasses during our week in Lyon. Of the three, at La Mere, the food was less interesting and less well prepared, the service was inattentive and the room was unpleasant. 25e plus tax for a good but ordinary souffle is insulting. Our fish dish was dry and overcooked. Three people serving 5 tables in our room ignored a plate left behind by the bus boy and did not refill glasses timely. The ceiling squeaked constantly as people walked above. The food at both of the other restaurants was more creative, the rooms were beautiful, and the service was flawless. Sadly, lots of pomp and history, but not the best restaurant. For e200/person, it should be superb. It was not

The food prep was superb. The starter amuse was a delectable a blend of what tasted like liquified foie gras w mushrooms and lardon. The encroute terrine was tasty and artistically presented. The veal medallions were cooked perfectly and the sauce was an excellent compliment. The single large ravioli in the center was a bit of a disappointment and the only item in the entire meal that I did not finish - the stuffing tasted old in contrast to the lovely fresh ingredients that went into the other dishes including the mushrooms that our wine person said was "picked this morning"

The restaurant was in an inviting home style setting with different rooms so not too many tables which gave it an intimate feeling. We had the tasting menu in the classic style. It was creative with a beautiful presentation. We especially enjoyed the artichoke starter. Some of the dishes where well done were not to our tastes. The portion sizes seemed inappropriately large. We were impressed when the chef came out to greet us at the end and ask if everything was okay. We did feel the service was a little impersonal and we sat for a long time before they even brought water.

The starter and main, where disappointing, I was told I couldn't have the degustasion, which was the whole reason why I went to a 2 michellin star restaurant, I felt really rushed by the Mait're d, I thought he was very rude, and arrogant, and he couldn't wait to get me out and knock off, for a break. The highlights; I thought the Sommellier was very knowelageable and friendly, the red was sublime, the dessert was superb, which made up for the disappointing starter and main. I definitely will not return.

There are too many staff personal running back and forth and filling your wine glass every 3 minutes which is intrusive and unnecessary. Expected a better tasting meal for this price point.
