About the restaurant La Mère Poulard

With great resistance, mainly due to the negative reviews, I agreed to dine here (Make advance reservations) while visiting Mont-Saint-Michel. The omelettes are that good and unique enough that you need to try them just once in your life. The prix fix is the way to go. True, the service is indifferent and the focus is on giving you what you ordered. But I say if you know that going there, you might be pleasantly surprised and glad you did.

The omlettes were horrible although the desserts were ok. Service was also terrible. We could not get the waiter to bring us additional drinks or water. There were flies swarming us and our food as we ate. Prices are way too high. Wish we went somewhere else.

much ado about nothing. Yes the omelette was specially fluffy and had a nice taste (wood fireplace), but it will be a one time and never again type of experience. The other food they served was okay - like the rest of France. Nice sauces but too expensive for what you'll get.
The service was not good, they were under staffed and didnt clear nor ask what else you'd need... slow service of food.

Great food. We went to try the famous omelette . Fun to see them cook it. Staff less than welcoming. Felt rushed, too.

We had a reservation to celebrate my 50th birthday. I made this reservation in 23/08. when we arrived 15 minutes before we were greeted rudely by a young boy saying that one month le FOURCHET no longer made reservations for the restaurant. it was impossible to get a reservation for 9 pm. he screamed and showed us a menu saying that if we were to stay had to eat what was lá.Um older waiter tried to calm the boy led us to the table. We ate the set menu an omelet and a dessert. It was not bad. Not lit the candle on our table and not served us water. We dined yes but the night was very bad.

A great choice and of course one can consider this a little pricey for an omelette but this can be called "the" omelette.
It is simply delicious, soft an amazing. It's a one in a lifetime experience that's worth doing to me. On top of that the rest of the menu is excellent.
I took the Menu' Tradition with an Omelette with Lard and Potatoes, marinated fish as starter and the 3 chocolate desert. Fantastic...... with a bottle of Mere Poulard Rose' Cider. The walls are decorated with pictures and commendations from famous patrons who have dined here over several decades ... from socialites to politicians to Nobel prize winners. Finally, La Mere Poulard is a high end restaurant in a very touristy location and it's prices reflect both these aspects.

Definitely book in advance, we had a reservation and the whole booking went smoothly. The omelette is overpriced but you should know this in advance and you can go for once for the experience.
