La Scala Cafe & Pizzeria

The food was very good and there was plenty to choose from including specials. We all enjoyed our meals and would definitely recommend this restaurant. Unfortunately the toilets needed attention.

The restaurant is a local for us and we were delighted that it has reopened after the COVID-19 restrictions. We enjoyed well prepared Italian food at reasonable prices.

The service was very friendly and the food choice was good. The food quality was good too. The waitress and waiters were showing respect to us as the food came a bit late due to a higher number of customers.

There were 2 of us. We ordered a main each & a garlic bread. First meal came out. Five minutes later, second meal came out. We reminded them about garlic bread & they delivered that a few minutes later. Didn't ruin the experience but was a bit dodge.

The overall dinner was good however one of our guests lasagne was cold in the middle. It was sent to be warmed up but took a long time and the rest of the table had finished their dinner. Also took a long time to clear the table for us to be able to consider dessert.

Lighting isn’t great, wouldn’t go back solely for that reason otherwise food was good, staff was friendly.

Came with a couple of friends- we ordered pasta, pizza, garlic bread and sweet potato fries to share- very fully but all dishes were full of flavour and great fresh ingredients. Very happy

La Scala is a nice enough family cafe but it lacks a bit of atmosphere. Having a TV on in the background that drowns out the sound of any music playing is always going to be annoying for customers. The food was quite tasty but lacked seasoning and were, we felt, in smallish portions. Service was quick and attentive though and the staff really polite. I think this is the sort of place that does better when it’s busier and is a bit bland and meh when it’s not. Saying that we will most likely come again sometime but perhaps not on a Sunday night when it’s empty.

Staff couldn’t find booking at first. So put us at an unpleasant table where the seats were too low for the dining table. Might have worked if we were just having coffee. Asked to be moved so we were put in a table of bright sunshine. Moved table to get sun out of eyes. Realised later there was a partial blind covering one side but staff didn’t point it out. Clearly they had not reserved us a table.
