Ser el primero siempre es un plus. Y en los años 90, La Terraza del Claris fue la primera de un hotel barcelonés que abrió al público de la calle, cuando a nadie se le había ocurrido que allí arriba se podía hacer ‘algo’, y no solo para los clientes del hotel. Los responsables del establecimiento crearon escuela y todos han seguido su ejemplo. Y aún hoy deberían seguirlo, pues su restaurante ha ido mejorando con el paso de los años. Ahora manda Aurelio (‘Yeyo’) Morales, que pasó por las cocinas de Miramar y Àbac, y que también dirige Cebo, en el Urban de Madrid, del mismo grupo hotelero. Un chef de garantías.

Así pues, nada que ver con las típicas terrazas de hotel que tienen una carta de pica-pica y poco más (cosa que también ofrecen aquí). Estamos ante un señor restaurante que incluso dispone de cocina allí mismo y que en invierno se cubre, se dota de calefacción y se embellece con alfombras. Allí se pueden probar platazos como el canelón de carabineros, salsa americana y gelatina de trufa, las kokotxas con pil pil ibérico, judías verdes y emulsión de edamame, el steak tartar con helado de mostaza… Un buen equilibrio entre la cocina tradicional y la más moderna.

This was a really Amazing esperience.
I made a reservation for me and my boyfriend, to live something special in Barcelona.
The staff was very glad and courteous, especially the waiter from Milan, very very nice.
Everything was at the edge of top, from the tuna tartarre, Till the dessert with wiskhy icecream. An unforgettable esperience, a very suggestive Place... I really really reccomend You, because of the quality-price relativo very very excellent!!

We went for the tasting menu which did not disappoint! A good varied meal served by the professional and friendly staff. I would have liked to see a wine pairing option for each course as I believe this works best to enhance the flavour combinations the chef has put together. That said, the meal was excellent and it was nice to swap the hustle and bustle for the nice relaxed dining experience we had at La Terraza
