About the restaurant La Tupina - Maison Fredon

"POLISHED BY THE YEARS - like the earthen pot from which it derives its name, the restaurant la Tupina has retained its spirit, despite international recognition. The cuisine of this gastronomic temple of Old Bordeaux continues to attract with the quality of its products and the mastery of its culinary repertoire.

THE BEST FROM THE SOUTHWEST - entry onto the Rotisserie and a stall of fresh products... Every day, the chef visits the surrounding markets and local producers, looking for rare pearls. Products are then prepared without artifice.

GOURMET STREET - Since 1968, la Tupina made small encounters, and today the street Porte de la Monnaie multiplies gourmet encounters: Café Tupina, Kuzina, Bar Cave or even Au Comestible, the grocery store, embody the spirit of the founder."

Delicious - food and atmosphere was amazing. Highly recommend. Every dish was prepared with care and the fois gras was superb. The wine selection was sufficient and look forward to going back!!

Had the lamprey, which was very "interesting." At the last minute we added the roast pigeon to our order. It smelled great, but was dry and tough, which was both surprising and disappointing. Wine list very good. Cahors was a great choice. Service very good. Overall good, but not a transcendent experience. (for better or worse, it seemed mainly filled with tourists rather than locals.

Too much food and not to the standard we expected, It was suggested we have a side plate of Mushrooms, which we agreed to and the portion would have been ample for a party of 4 not a party of 2, and the cost was more than a main course, ridiculous. The main course portions were large and not enjoyable. Huge disappointment.

Great lunch for my friends 70th birthday. First class food & service. Just be aware the website says wine is included with set menu but it’s not. Definitely recommended.

This is a bit of an institution in Bordeaux and I feel that it's become a little touristy but the food was still good, if a little on the expensive side for what it is - EUR25 of a side of girolles. The beef was great but the sweetbreads were a little cold and not crispy enough.

Friendly welcome made us confident that it was going to be a good experience.
Displays of mushrooms and meat for the evening looked amazing.
Small menu but there were 2 fish dishes for a non meat eater.
Waitress suggested evening specials tomatoes or mushrooms as starters- we shared the mushrooms.
We would return there on another trip.

This restaurant has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Food was delicious, staff friendly and helpful when ordering, good wine list and added bonus when leaving staff kindly showed us their wine cellar. If we visit Bordeaux again would definitely return - a very enjoyable evening.

A very inviting cosy restaurant with friendly service and excellent food. Standouts were the mushrooms, tomato salad, beef, and fries. Chicken was a little dry.

Visited after watching Rick Stein's Long Weekends and we had the same dish: rib of beef on the bone and duck fat chips. Excellent meal - very tasty and perfectly cooked, medium rare. Great atmosphere and tucked up a quiet alleyway off the main road. We were given a table on a veranda, which was very romantic and added to the superb feel and ambience of the restaurant.

Wonderful atmosphere with delicious food. If you don’t like rich meaty food this may not be your cup of tea. The ceps fried in butter and garlic was sublime as was the mushroom pasta. The Rognons de veau were a bit dry although very tasty. The canale dessert was chewy and rich with rum and vanilla topped with a birthday candle for my daughter, made for a perfect end to our first evening In Bordeaux.
