This place was great the staff were so friendly and polite the service was excellent as food well we are going back the next evening as the food was very good we had the garlic prawn and scallops for starters then paella it was amazing
The restaurant has good food and a nice decor, but a lack of waiters, so the service was very poor (after 1h15 we got the starters), what is inacceptable in such a Restaurant with higher Prices.
Starter was nice, but they failed to serve our wine with the dinner, we wait until our fish was almost cold and then eat and after that they bring the wine, even I tried to re-order that from 3-4 waitresses.
Food was good but, unfortunately, service was below standard. 1st course arrived promptly (perhaps too promptly for it have been freshly prepared). Main course arrived so quickly that we had barely put cutlery down from 1st course. After that it was almost impossible to attract waiters' attention. They barely looked in our direction. Just a bad night, I think, because our previous experience at La Vieja was much better
A delightful restaurant in a splendid setting. The food and service were both excellent. My only complaint is that I speak close to fluent Spanish and although I only addressed staff in Spanish one or two persisted in answering me in English. I’m stubborn so this was a minor irritation but it may influence my decision about whether to return.
Good, average service but fish grill plate was not good at all. Red schrimps were also not well grilled and not tasty. Considering the price level and recommendations, we had expected a better kitchen.
Overall a disappointing experience. The food was pretty ok but hopelessly overpriced for what you get. Not so much in terms of quantity but quality. The real issue though was the service. The restaurant was not very full that night and still there where about seven service staff running around like headless chicken. It took them about 30 minutes to take our order. At some point we started to serve drinks to ourselves because nobody would do so. No idea why all staff had headphones to coordinate the service at all. Why not use them?! Apparently, we were not the only ones suffering from this horrid service as we heard complains from other tables, too. Accordingly, the atmosphere was rather tense overall. And last but the least the blinking lights of the tasteless Christmas decoration deserve an epilepsy warning.
Of the seven restaurants in La Caleta that we have experienced this week, La Vieja was the best. Outstandingly good food, great service, lovely setting.
Lovely location No sea bass in a fish restaurant sea bream was awful organised chaos from a service point of view. Very disappointing and will not return I’m afraid
disgrace! when we went they told us we had no reservation. after we had confirmation! we had to look for a restaurant with a table for 11 people! which was a breakthrough! i am outraged at what happened!
Absolutely our favourite meal and restaurant of our holiday! Top class food quality and service as always. Cannot picture a better setting for a meal - sound of the sea is beautiful.
Very good restaurant, the service is good and the food is excellent. We had Garlic prawns to start with followed by a fish dish and steak. We will be going again.
There’s no point in booking the table, because our table was more bad, than others tables. We asked to change the table, but hostess refused. About food: the scallops was undercooked, black rice was over salted.
Lovely welcome. beautiful setting. Far too much emphasis on selling us water. Very excited to see Cerviche on the menu but there was more onion than fish in the dish. Taste was excellent but for 22 Euro’s I felt cheated..
This restaurant had been recommended to me by many people so I was keen to try it out for myself. It was a bit of a let down and the food wasn't as good as I expected it to be. I had cod croquetas as a starter -- that were so obviously NOT home made but frozen prepared ones - which I was very surprised about. My main course was a stew of fish in a clam sauce. The sauce was an unappetizing grey colour and had no discernable flavour to it --apart from SALT !!! Way too salty to the point of being inedible. I persevered with a dessert -- mixed berries. Could barely eat it as it was way too SWEET -- it set my teeth on edge . So very disappointing -- and expensive.
A beautiful setting overlooking the harbour with a talented violinist creating a cultured atmosphere. The started of tuna carpaccio and squid in red pepper sauce were good and nicely presented. However, the house paella, named after the restaurant was very disappointing with the mussels and clams burnt to a cinder. We complained and the restaurant discounted the paella by 50% but we would have far rather had an excellent dish. A disappointing end to what should have been a special meal.
Most enjoyable and beautifully cooked meal served by charming young staff overseen by a very experienced and pleasant manager. First class in every respect. Fully recommend!
Great food. Great service. Amazing location. Easy to go with kids because of the boardwalk
Very nice restaurant with excellent fish dishes, very good service and nice location. We eat here already a couple of years ago and were happy to see that it is still there. We wii definitly come back again!
