We ate here for my mum’s birthday meal while visiting Bordeaux - we wanted something special & memorable and 428 certainly was. The hostess was so lovely and accommodated our lack of French, the food was excellent and overall we had a great experience. Merci beaucoup!

We had a fantastic experience here. Each dish had so many components that tasted delicious and worked together perfectly. Each one was presented beautifully. At the end of the evening, the chef came out of the kitchen to meet the diners and check that everything had been good. He truly cared that everyone had enjoyed their food. The menu (which is a set menu and easy to find online) was written in French and English, and the front of house lady spoke very good English. She was a large part of the experience; she was absolutely charming.

A simple 3-course €54 menu comprising one starter, a choice of two dishes for main course, and a dessert. Amazing cooking, exceptional service and very reasonably priced wine. The restaurant is intimate (about 20 covers), elegant but relaxed. The hosts are delightful too. This is a special place.

We are a couple on vacation from the USA. We went during the week. There was just one server and the chef. He visited all tables after our dessert. There is just one option for a 3 course meal- with two entrees- this day fish or chicken. Menu is online the day of. Wine is separate and lots of options. Our waitress let us try the wine first and we accidentally order a sweet Sauternes instead of white Sancerre and she quickly recommended something else. Excellent.

This provides everything tht I want in a restaurant. The food is based on familiar produce but is cooked with imagination and freshness. The choice is small which may not suit everyone. The starter and dessert are both restricted to one ' chef's choice'. My advice is to trust the chef - his ingredients and cooking is delicious. The service is warm, helpful and responsive. The ambience is calm and cordial where everyone is enjoying their food. Good food, nice place.

This is a really charming little restaurant with a creative young chef. All the choices we tried from the short menu were terrific. The chef and a wait person appeared to constitute the entire staff. They did a very good job managing the evening flow. The food is complicated with many diffent elements in every dish. It can be quite rich, so pace yourself for sure.

Food was fresh and very well presented To my taste, each course included an exaggerated amount of ingredients and as such the overall taste was a bit too complex - would rather keep it more simple and limit each dish to 4-5 ingredients maximum The suggested paired wine was very good Service was excellent and accommodating to our dietary restrictions

What a terrific experience. The food was outstanding and the charming couple that are the chef/owners of this establishment went out of their way to make sure we had the best possible time. They reminded me very much about what is lovable about the French pride in their efforts. Absolutely would love to come back and recommend to anyone. We've had so many outstanding meal experiences in France and this was one of the most memorable.

Beautiful setting in an unassuming street behind the cathedral. Food was delicious and unique (for us Brits at least) with a variety of complementary and complex ingredients which created delightful dishes. Front of house so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended

A fabulous evening. The food was outstanding and the service exemplary. Not to be missed. One of the best meals we’ve had in quite some time. When there was a mix up with the taxi and we were late to the restaurant they couldn’t have been more accommodating.

Fantastic flavours and beautifully presented food... The amuse bouche and the Macaroons at the end were also a lovely touch. There's nothing not to like, excellent service and great selection of wines by the glass. Would love to return again on another visit.
